The last Ford Ranger

Ford RangerA few photos of the last Ford Ranger ever produced has surfaced when it was rolled off the assembly line at the Twin Cities Plant. It’s going to Orkin Pest Control who has purchased so many of the Rangers it’s crazy.

The plant that made the Ford Ranger is 86 years old and located along along the Mississippi River and will be displacing about 800 workers. Ford says about 2/3rd’s of these will be able to relocate to other plants that are adding tons of jobs. Read the rest of this entry

2012 Ford Explorer Ecoboost

2012 Ford ExplorerThe 2012 Ford Explorer is offering up the Ecoboost option of the turbo four cylinder that says to give you V6 performance with the four cylinder fuel mileage. The new explorer is no longer classified as a SUV but not is in the crossover SUV meaning it’s turning to a more car like status.

The standard 3.5 liter V6 puts out 290 horsepower and 255 lb. feet of torque and has a six speed automatic transmission. The EcoBoost option is the turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder that puts out 237hp and 250 lb. feet of torque. So far, this option is only for all front wheel drive orders. The last of the Ford Ranger rolls off the assembly line

2011 Ford RangerFord is about a week away from losing one of its more famous nameplates, the Ranger pickup, and the plant where it is built, the Twin Cities in Minnesota. The last Ranger will roll off the line next week, either Nov. 16 or Nov. 19, says Ford spokesman Mike Levine.

And the last customer will be one of the most loyal for the small pickup: Orkin, the pest control giant. Orkin has bought thousands of Rangers through the years, so it’s only fitting that the company should get the last one. Read the rest of this entry
