    Easy to do.

Either go to a wrecking yard. Get the manual hubs off a Ranger. OR buy the kit from Warn. They make them anyway.

New ... its been awhile, but $250 sticks in my head. You will save quite a bit at the wrecking yard. You will need the coversion kit and a "nut kit."

The only special tool you will need is a 4WD front nut ... your friendly autoparts store. They are common.

The torque to tighten the nuts is NUTS. 150 ft-lbs. I stand on my wrench at about 10 inches. But you might be strong enough to do it by hand with an 18 inch bar.

I got the Mile Marker hubs from Auto Zone. $112 for the hubs, and $36 for the conversion kit. It was pretty easy to do. Only took a couple of hours. I haven't had any problems with them since.

    back from the dead

so i apologize for bringing such an old post up, but a search didn't reveal enough information for me.

my autolocking hubs are defective and i am now becoming aware of their inferiority and longevity compared to manual hubs. however, i'm not interested in spending $300 on new hubs for this truck so my desire is to acquire the parts from a salvage yard.

can anyone create a list of all that needs to be removed from the salvaged vehicle to complete this? also, what years can i remove the hubs from to fit a 94 ranger? I'm pretty positive a 93 and 94 ranger/explorer. however, maybe even a 96 and 97?

your wasting your time and money, most likely all the used PVH at the junk yard are junk or wont last to long...

and if you mean like taking manual hubs from like a junk yard jeep or something thats not possible..

all rangers and explorers came with auto hubs stock...

ok, noted. wasn't aware all rangers/explorers came with auto hubs as oem. i've seen a few with manual, but i'll assume from now on they are installed as aftermarket. i had no intention or thoughts of trying to fit hubs from another vehicle/manufacturer other than explorer/ranger/b series. but thanx

yeah, not all rangers and explorers came with auto locking hubs. should be easy to find some manual hubs at the junk yard, use the conversion kit to install them. i did it on my 93 and my 96.

Just spend the ~$200 price and get the Warn hubs and conversion kit. Drivetrain is a part of your truck that you dont wanna be cheap on.
