aiight, i have question on if the compression on the exaust side of my dual plug head is gonna be the same as the intake side. Its soo much easier to get to the exaust side...so i ran it on that side. Also, is there any explanation as to why my truck will run with none of the exaust side spark plug wires hooked up? My truck was hesitating at interstate speeds, around 75 up...I thought it might be wires and plugs, but that wasnt it. I ran a compression check and came back with 150, 147, 142, 150. Any thoughts guys..i know that that sounds about right. What could be my problem? Thanks.

The plugs on the exhaust side are the initial firing plugs (I may be wrong on this), but the maniofld side still has enough spark power to ignite the fuel. The compression should be the same, both sides go into the the same cylinder, one thing to watch out for is if the plugs on the manifold side are in good and tight. I had a prob with a bad idel when a plug was loose and caused a drop in compression. Your intake may be the fault for the hesitation on interstate speeds, the 4bngr does not have much power when you are in 5th (or od on automatics) on interstae speed, 5th gear is made for milage saving and not power. Getting a free flow air filter setup and exhaust will help a bit on that.

I have an air intake with open air filter and a gutted cat with a cherry bomb muffler. You think that the air filter being a lil dusty could have anything to do with it? Mabey a leakin intake...a lil vaccume leak? I duno..thanks man

Actually that could cause the slow interstate acceleration. When in fith gear you are probably at about 2200 rpm on your engine when at 75mph. From how my ranger performs it really dosen't get much power going to about 2500 to 2800 rpms. I doubt there is a vacume leak, you can go through the hoses and check it never hurts. my suggestion is if you really want power just gear down to get it or drop out of od on autos, i know i have some acceleration probs when i hit a real steep hill when I am going about 70. If you really want to look into getting more power you can try a set of higer ratio gears, but it would pretty much be the same as downshifting.
