OK so I wanted to see if I could pull the cab-mounted brake/cargo lamp apart and get the red lens out to make it all clear tonight...

Nope.

I did manage to get part of the lens broken free from the black base but that sucker is really glued down tight and at one point my lens started cracking.. so I decided it's not gonna be happening.

At least not til someone (or I) figure out how to release that glue without damaging the rest of the assembly..

Hmm.... maybe droppin it in boiling water? or steaming it somehow?

:)

A hair-dryer and thin putty-knife (or something similar) is how you get Grand Am taillights apart to clear them...Just a thought as I havent really looked too closely at my third brake light...

Man I tried the same thing, but that black piece wasn't coming off and I wasn't gonna risk breaking it.

Yeah I already tried heat and prying.. it wasn't gonna go down that way and I had the heat gun set on 1,000 degrees too. I didnt heat the plastic up that hot but it was obvious the lower setting on the heat gun weren't gonna work.

Since I was gonna do LED's for that assembly anyway I just might hold off 'til I can build my own housing.

I might even come up with a flushmount setup like the S-10's have.

or just get rid of it and put something in your back window!

it's ultrasonically welded.. heat will do no good to loosen the welds, trust me...

How about a fine-toothed saw, and lots of patience??
