What model did he get?? I have a code 3 double wigwag flasher on my taillights and it does the following.

flash, flash left --- flash, flash right --- flash, flash left --- flash, flash right --- both sides flash, flash, at the same time. Then it starts over again.

I think I still have the paper work for mine at home so give me a few days and I'll see what I can do.

Before I get into how to do it, I am assuming there is a legitimate reason for having such a device??

Of course! Off road and show use only. :E

Parking lots while parked is considered a show in my opinion... and strobe lights make great attention getters.

I'd like a nice set of 90watt whelens myself... 4 bulb setup and then a wigwag for the headlights. Mmmm...

OK. As I said... Is there a LEGITIMATE use for this device?

I'm guessing by the lack of response, that the answer was "no".

Just because he's a vol fireman, doesn't give him the okay to use them. I would make sure his department allows personal to have emergency flashers on their own private vehicles. If not, its a big no no, and could result in a lost job, or somehting worse.
