I was wondering how low I have to go to get it where there is almost no space between the tires and wheel wells?

View Full Version : how low? orangemini Nov 20 2003, 01:43pm I was wondering how low I have to go to get it where there is almost no space between the tires and wheel wells? butter428 Nov 20 2003, 08:27pm 4/5 drop kit with an extra 1 or 2 inch block in the rear. rangerbscrapin2 Nov 20 2003, 11:18pm i wouldnt recommend using blocks on a ranger because they give it a bad pinion angle and they slip but thats just my 2cents butter428 Nov 21 2003, 03:50am I know about a bazillion people on here with blocks and none of them complain. They also make angled blocks to correct the pinion angle if you're worried about it. You could also ditch the blocks and flip the rear leaf spring hangers upside down....that would give you as much drop as a 2" block, but blocks are sooooo much easier to put on. NVR2LOW Nov 21 2003, 06:27am my blocks have never give me a problem. alignment shop said my angle was dead on. and what year truck do you have? i have a 96 and the front rubs on bumps and corners with my 5/7 drop. Mightygreenrang Nov 21 2003, 12:00pm 5/7 is about the only way to have no fender gap. D94R Nov 21 2003, 12:51pm heres how much fender gap a 5 inch drop in front left me just to give you an idea... i have 17 inch wheels with 225/45/17 tires Tire Gap (http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/375939/3) Biohazard Nov 21 2003, 01:45pm that looks like a 4/5 danger. You sure those pics are a 5/7? NVR2LOW Nov 21 2003, 02:21pm looks like a 5/5 to me, a 5/7 would be lower in the back. whith low pro's on 17's the front looks about 5 but the back sits too high. the back of my truck sits about 1/2 inch lower than the front when i dont have air in my shocks. butter428 Nov 21 2003, 08:19pm with a 4.0 motor all you need is 4" in the front, the weight of the motor will drop it another inch or two nusensesd Nov 22 2003, 12:42am also it depends on what size tires you are running the larger the tires the less you have to go down.. If your trying to run 195/50/15's you are going to have to get pretty far down there.. Figure out what size tire and rim you are going to run and then a more accurate response on what size drop is needed.. SouthernTraits Nov 24 2003, 07:23am shoot.. i am runnin a 5/7 on my 93 with 1" blocks and blocks do give it a bad angle because when I had 3"ers on it it rubbed like crazy... It all depends on the tire size because right now I am runnin stockers on smaller tires and I still have 3" to go in front before the tires rub the well and... well... the back can touch the ground because i've already ripped its wells out Romeo86 Nov 24 2003, 07:37am i had a flip kit and blocks and never had a problem. and they were the blocks u buy at autozone ReDLine Nov 24 2003, 09:50am Originally posted by butter428 with a 4.0 motor all you need is 4" in the front, the weight of the motor will drop it another inch or two tru dat....i had to install 1in coil spacers that goes in the coil housing to untuck the tires..but even at that, the stockers still tucked about .5-1in...but the 17's and lower profile tires ended up aobut half an inch smaller or so.....so i have less than an inch of gap up front pretty much D94R Nov 24 2003, 01:00pm i didnt say how low the back was... and yes its actually like 5.5 inches of drop... (i think id know how low MY truck was), anyhow the pics show the rear having a 5 inch drop NVR2LOW nailed it right on... but now i have blocks in the rear makin it an even stance at right around a 5ish/7ish BumpinRanger93 Nov 25 2003, 01:21am im runnin a 7/7 with block an have not had any probs with it .... except it not low enough :) ReDLine Nov 25 2003, 06:28am what u usin up front to get 7? D94R Nov 25 2003, 01:19pm no shizzle... how fast you go through tires too... |
