I want to Install a rear sway bar kit on my 00' to try and tame some of the body roll. I want to know if a way bar really makes a noticable diffrence and if so which ones would you recomend?

Try looking for "splash" sway bars. They came standard on my 94 and I love them. They will take out body roll considerably. My truck handles very well for all stock suspension. My room mate drives a 99 GTP and my truck can easily stay with him in the twisty parts of the road. He kills me in the straights but I catch up and stay with him in the turns. Typically the bigger diameter bar the better. Later

cool...I was wondering if there is a good aftermarket sway bar. I really dont like the Idea of putting older parts on my truck, but I'm going to call around the salvage yards and see what I can come up with..

Hellwig makes a VERY good product. That is what I have had on my '99 for over 3 years now.

Welcome back, stranger! ;)

I've been considering the Belltech swaybars lately, Belltech is known for well designed products....and they're SILVER :ooer: .

I've always heard good things about Hellwig. I'll probably be the guinea pig for the Belltechs though.

a lot of Explores came with them i would say that would be your best bet 94 and up.

The later model Ex bars won't (easily) fit they have a weird way they mount to the axle. Usually ranger bars are the easist to put on. Also B2's sometimes have nice big rear bars that easily bolt up.

b2 and ranger had up to 1" rear bars ... your frame should already be drilled for the end links .... i mounted mine towards the rear because there would be more leverage on the bar to control body roll, i also added an extra leaf which also helped .... i have a flipped rear, 2" body dropped and 6" suspension drop

Hellwig makes both front and rear sway bars for our trucks.
Just installed one on my '01 supercab and am only disappointed I waited this long to get one. What an improvement ! Am sure it would be even better when the truck gets lowered and I get new tires.
I found Hellwig swaybars on the net for like $150. Though I did get fee shipping because of the Christamas season.
I bought one from www.truckperformance.com BUT there are other sites.
Go for it ! You won't be dissapointed.

I like the Helwig rear bar I installed recently, the handling is much improved. If you get one, let me know how the paint finish was, because mine looked like it was glopped on. Plus no instructions, but "Gilbert" was good on the help line. Pictures don't fax so well though...

I just got a factory bar off a 92. Install was cake. I got it off ebay for $40 shipped. If you get one of these make sure you use the right mounting plates on the right side!!! They are different. The right has a larger cutout for the axle houseing on one side. Other than that, its no problem. I dont think for the price you can beat a rear bar off and older ranger or BII. Plus it'll be matched to your stock front one. I drove it a little in the neighborhood and can already tell it made a difference.

I thought I would chime in...
I got a set of bars off of an old 4x4 BII (like 86-87.) The front was almost twice as big as the old one, and I didn't have a rear bar. I would say that installing the matched pair was the best upgrade I've ever done to my truck.

i grabbed one off an 87 STX, (the L/S too) works awesome, it will pull the inside rear tire up in the air about 10-12" from what spiderman and others have said, i obviously cant see it while driving

GOO!!! I just found a 1"(!!!!) rear swaybar off a BII at the junk yard. Got it for 20 bones. So I'll have a splash rear sway bar for sale pretty soon. Thing is it wont come with axel brackets. I need to reuse them as my friend needed the other set. It will have end links and bushings though.
