What do you guys prefer for building notches...cutting 2x4 or 2x3 stock at angles, welding it together, or using an 8 pc kit that requires you to weld the sides, top & bottom together?

BlauSplash Nov 29 2003, 01:46am Either way you should box your frame in some to make it more sturdy. Your gonna have to buy a 10 ft stick of 2x4 tubing at most places for about 50.00 or you buy an 8 piece kit from me or any other vendor for about 50.00 plus shipping. bluedge Nov 30 2003, 06:06am A 12 ft piece at the place I get metal would probably only be $15 or so. Its a surplus steel yard. I'm probably going to do a backhalf on mine with 2x3x.125. People use thicker stuff, but the stock frame is only 1/8", so 1/8" box would be pretty stiff with crossmembers. Maybe 3/16". ~Russell S10Hunter Nov 30 2003, 07:34am 2x4 if you don't like welding, 8 pc. if you don't mind/are good at it. I just slapped together my 8 piece. Wasn't too too hard. |
