Would I be better off keeping the Duratec 2.3L and adapting a turbo to it, or buying a 2.3L Lima and building it for a turbo? Another option would be to find a complete turbo motor out of a t-bird or svo. How hard would it be to put a turbo on the Duratec and have it reliable enough to be a daily driver?
I dont think there is much on this board about a 2.3L duratec turbo so I had to post.

The Duratec is a great engine but not enough aftermarket support is out there yet for turbocharging it. If you do a search on Turboford you will find MANY discussions about the duratec engine and some links to folks and companies that are researching future turbo and other application for the motor.
The engines weak point is the rods which are sintered powdered iron. But some real power is possible. here is a dyno of an N/A 2.3 Duratec that is running Meth Dyno Chart (http://www.circleperformance.com/images/image_gbl/DTKX033.BMP)
Anywho I gotta run... but you are currently better off going the "old standard" route. Get an old 2.3 iron block, Trubo, Vam, etc...

On your truck ALOT WAS CHANGED, and I would think it would be extremely difficult... Those newer ones have the full brake system tied into the computer etc... As well as some other things, so the turbo EEC system is out of the question.... Wiring is COMPLETELY different from those years, I dont think they have a 42 pin connector anymore, it's something completely different, tied in throughout the truck... Than the returnless fuel system. Good luck with that, other people here have done it, but it is something I would not like to mess with....
