View Full Version : Air bag -VS- coil overs 98blownranger Dec 07 2003, 08:43am I am going to a latter bar. Should I get air bags or coil overs and if any one has part numbers prices anything that would help. thanks curt Gunman Dec 07 2003, 09:32am Do you want ride height adjustability on the fly, or a shock-spring setup that you can adjust/tune, and requires disassembly? Simply put, whats the design intent? Aaron B Dec 07 2003, 10:31pm Remember, with coil overs you've got the same spring rate at all heights, with bags it varies greatly. On the other hand, air bags do have the advantage of being a pretty decent rising rate spring, i.e. the more you compress the higher the "spring rate". 98blownranger Dec 07 2003, 11:35pm I didn't know that about the bags. I plan on racing here and there and mainly just taking it to shows, I don't plan on changing the hieght once it is set. curt matt'sdrag95 Dec 14 2003, 04:34am i wouldn't recommend bags if you're going to race(especially straight line). you'll more than likely experience lots of wheel hop with bags.. then again good coil overs car cost 300 a piece, i've never looked at bags so i don't know what the price of those are. matt Tate Dec 14 2003, 10:49am Are you bagging the front too? If yes, then bag the rear too. If you're keeping coils up front, then I'd say go with coil overs in the back. You'll get no more wheel hop with bags than with coil overs. It's flex in the mounts (i.e. leaf springs twisting). With the same bars holding the axle in place but a different spring style it'll react the same. |
