I have a photo of a rocking horse that i am working on. I want to delete the background so i only have the horse left. I'm not really sure what to do. If someone could walk me through the steps to do this that would be great. I think I need to use the pen tool but i dont really know. Thanks a lot.

use the polygonal lasso (it's a selection in the lasso tool) and select the horse but not the parts you want cut out. once selected, right click on the horse and click "select inverse." Then, push delete and it should delete everything except the horse.

I prefer to use the magic wand to delete the background. Keep playing w/ the setting (0-100) at the top until it works for you. If not, I use the reg lasso and just work my way around the picture. I use the magnifying glass to make sure I get it perfect :)

the polygonal lasso is the best to use since you don't have to keep holding the mouse down as you move around the image..
The problem with the magic wand on a background or anything that isn't the same color is it tends to intrude on your image. Ever since PS7 I hardly ever use the magic wand.
Definately follow Hole-Shots advice.. Polygonal Lasso is the way to go..

I never even tried using that tool until you guys mentioned it. WTF does it do? Once I start using it, it keeps drawing new lines... I can only stop it by hitting control z many times...

it makes drawing lines to cut out pic easier..
If you double click then the lines will meet together..

Yeah I figured it out :)
I love the avatar. I prefer the 2000 Solobarics over the 2002 ones :)

thanks.. it was a simple gif that I made using Image Ready.. Pretty much is only 2 things.. One with the speaker stationary and one what would be the full excursion..
My old aviator was a Ford GT that I color changed and made the lights blink..
