I bought an 89' with supposedly 6" suspension and 3" body lift. I think it has D28 and 7.5. No posi, 3.73's i think.
1: Do all or any lift manufacturers imprint their names into lift components?
2: If so, where?
3: I bought a truck with a lift. If leans towards the front drivers side. Through my uneducated inspection i have noticed no cracks or bends that can facilitate the lean. I am working on posting picks of this problem but am solely interested in finding out about what lift is on my truck. The idiot i bought it from had no idea, and neither do I. hence, who is the idiot right.
4: How do i measure the actual amount of lift in the suspension? I was told that it is a 6" suspension lift but upon measuring the radius arm to lift bracket bolt and the lift bracket to frame bolt (centerline to centerline) i came up with 5 1/2". it looks like the radius arms are causing serious caster angle issues. Radius arms look like stock length. The camber angle obviously negative camber. The truck steers like a skipping cd. How do i tell if the truck is equipped with stock camber/caster adjusters or aftermarket? Looking at the axle pivot bracket of the drivers side beam i noticed the top of the axle half is leaning uncharacteristicly forward (towards front bumber) compared to the bottom. Basiclly looks like serious caster angle issues. ANYWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am trying to find out why my truck is leaning towards the front drivers side.
The driversside spring goes pretty much straight down till almost at the axle half. Then it angles inboard at almost 2-3"(looking at it from the front of the truck). Due to exames of pivot bracket i found no out of normal angles. i need to post photos, this would help you all to diagnose the problem.
5. My solution to the problem is to replace the front suspension with a straight coil sprung setup. But first...........is the frame bent? More to come.
