Hey guys,

Since I have everything up and running great I can safely say that I'm going to the dyno this Saturday with some sort of reliability. Anyway, I have a few companies backing me now,Street Smart Designs (http://ssd4u.com) with a cold air kit with maf adapter-filter-and carbon fiber cover and SLP engineering (http://www.slpeng.com) with their dual exahust kit. Along with Prodrive/Badillo and Whipple superchargers with the Whipple kit and Performance programming. I hope to have an Apten Programmer but I don't think I'll have it in time for this weekend.

My question for you guys is this, I can easily install the SSD stuff on the dyno but the SLP exhaust will take sometime. Since this truck is the RPS site truck I thought I'd leave it up to the members. Do you want me to install the Exhaust before I goto the dyno or wait and get some numbers without it? Actually, I have some more dyno time scheduled for the 28th the following weekend, with a website I'm part of locally, we are having a dyno day that I signed up for about a month ago. So I can have some more dyno results next weekend too.

So, for this weekend I'm going to get some numbers before and after with the SSD4U.com cold air kit, do you want the base line without the exhaust or with? I also have a half-shafted TB that I'm going to see what, if any, it may gain with it. This is one of the large things I can't wait to try ;)

Let me know, Doug904

p.s. SLP claims up to 20 rwhp increase with their air intake and exhaust???

I know this is more work and I'm not sure how much dyno time you have but maybe you could this...........

This weekend,
Do a base line with just the Whipple. Then add the intake and run it again.

Next weekend,
Do a base line without the intake but with the exhaust. Then put the intake back on and see what both pieces get you.

It's just an idea.

I think you should do the before/after with the SSD cone kit this weekend, then next weekend or so install the SLP exhaust.

Does the Whipple kit not already use the cone filter? I thought it did.

Now, what I'm REALLY interested in is your stage 2 P&P heads.....:burnout:

Gonna have to agree with Gerry on this one.

yep i would like before and after since when or if i got the kit i will not have any extra money to be putting all these other components on.

I agree with the others I would like to see the gain of the exhaust alone.

Gerry nailed that one for me to that way we know exactly what we're getting and mayber witch way to go aftrwards.

PS: the numbers I'm interested in should be close to 13's

yup... its nice to know what every part gets ya hp-wise when you see companies boast 20 percent gains... which might only happen on 1 vehicle...

I plan on being there with you Doug, and I think you should run the special 1.5" diameter intake tube and super-duper 3/4" exhaust system that I have made for you. It will also include a 7.5 volt coil booster voltage supply and an air filter made from a pair of my old wool socks. If there are any other performance mods I can make for you just let me know ... how about the cooling fan blades off a 454 chevy truck, these are the light weight ones, I think they are only about 65 pounds. :) ... and I'll lend you my 6 Ply 33x12.5 tires for traction on the dyno, they have minimal rolling resistance ... about the same as a Sherman tank track :(

I think the results on this vehicle may end up being somewhat 'skewed' - usually, the manufacturers advertise the HP on their product for a NORMALLY ASPIRATED engine.............

ps. I'll consider taking that air filter is he doesn't want it.......

I assume the intake is of the 4.0 variety. When you do get it on let us know how it fits. just wondering?

It should fit perfect...the airbox and maf are stock ranger 4.0 pieces, so as far as air filter/maf stuff is concerned, it should all just go right in. I can't wait to hear some results.

It should but it isn't a stock 4.0 throttle body or location so I was just wandering.

I wish you luck and some big numbers today man!

Yeah, from the throttle body to MAF is a tube specific to this kit, but the cone filter only gets rid of the air box. Doesnt sound like it helped any though.

Well, actually they did help, ALOT. But with the stock tuning the MAF transfer function didn't like the added flow and leaned out the mixture quite a bit. So it showed that they added extra air flow, especially when I had them both installed but the tuning like I said wasn't set up for it. What I plan on doing is having Apten do some upgrades for my setup later on down the road for the cone filter and ported TB. Then the gains should be excellent!

Later Doug904.
