i have these really crappy leaf springs on my '94 longbox and wondered if anyone else had them or knew how i got them cause i haven't seen another Ranger with them. the leafs are made out of some kind of composite plaste material. these things are so weak. if i have 3 people site on the tailgate the back tires almost go inside the wheel wells. my dad's '01 Ranger doesn't sag that bad. it hardly even drops and it has the stock leaves.

any ideas on new ones that could hold up to a heavier payload?
i don't want it to ride really rough, but i would like it to hold up to more weight then that.

Get a set of overload leafs. Either from another Ranger or pick up a set of the Tokico ones. The Tokicos come with an adjustable rubber bumper so you can adjust how soon they come in contact and it helps to reduce some of the harshness when a load is applied to them.

i was wondering about those overload leafs. my leafs don't attach to the axle in the same way that a 3 leaf spring does. wish i had pics to show you guys what i'm talking about.

will the overload leafs work with mine? i don't think you can just clamp another leaf on top because it won't sit flat.

Over loads go under the spring pack, not on top.

Yep, and they're pretty much flat too, not really like part of the spring pack. In theory they are there only for when you've got enough of a load to push the spring pack down onto the overload leaf. In reality though, they act as a quickly progressive rate spring, raising the spring rate over rough roads to the point of making things quite uncomfortable, at least with the stock Ford overload leafs. I've heard better things about the Tokico ones.
