Well I've owned this '02 Ranger for two months now and I am really impressed with the D-Tec engine. One thing though,I think it could definatly use a little better throttle response. It doesn't like to make much power down low but I still like it.I can realy get used to the gas mileage too, since my other truck gets 6 mpg.

open up the air box a little...give it some more air.either get a new air intake or mod the filter box..it'll pick up

The airbox mod is WELL worth your time and effort. Your duratec will be noticably louder at high RPM, and also faster.

I wish did that to my truck two years ago when I bought it, but now that I've done it, I love it.

I get much better mid and high RPM throttle response after the mod.

Get a header and you'll really notice a difference. Its almost like driving a different truck. You can thank me later.

of course thats coming from someone who just got his....lucky Duratech guys are getting all the cool parts (i.e ceramic coated header)....16 valves...why did I get the slow one? oh well...it's an excuse for a turbo swap I guess

Can't wait till the day the Duratec turbo becomes a viable option. :E

This might sound retarded but It worked. I got the MAF adapter from what used to be duratecperformance and used an APC cone filter and used the stock air tube and just switched sides like the CAI they offer. All I had to do was get a tube to extend the breather and it Has a lot better throttle response with the filter being away form the exhaust. :E
