Called Jim at Mr. Gasket again on Monday. Developement is going slowly on the new new shifter, but Jim assured me that progress is being made and the shifter will definitely be released as soon as all of the bugs are worked out. They really got caught out when the head of the developement team was re-assigned. The shifter itself is ready--they're just having problems developing finishing and trim kits for the different applications. Be patient, everyone-it's coming and will be worth the wait when it's finally available. I'll give Jim a shout in a couple of week and I'll keep everyone posted.

Think we may be able to do a group purchase buying direct and save ourselves a bit of cash? I'm sure within a week you'd have minimum 25 people or more for this one.

So is there any set date on when the shifters will be available? I'm figuring you could pick up about 1 tenth in the 1/4mile just by being able to shifter quicker.

Is this a "short throw" like the old days Hurst? Cuz as y'all know our 5 speeds have about, what, 4 feet between each gear?

True true. Even with the short throw shifter, we'll probably still have a lot longer throw than most. Ever driven an Audi TT? You barley have to move your wrist before it clicks in another gear, niiiiice.
My SVO shifts like that, the shifter maybe moves 2-3" between gears. Wonder if a Mustang shifter could be made to fit on a Ranger? The Mustangs have a cable operated clutch instead of a hydraulic unit, but I wonder how much difference there is in the shifter?
I was thinking, you could just cut off half the shifter, that would reduce your throw by 50%.
