i considerin buyin an explorer and was wonderin what kinda gas mileage they get on average. please post what kinda mpg u get and the info on ur explorer like year, 4dr or sport, 2 or 4wd, and most importantly v6 or v8

might wanna try over at www.fordexplorer.net or www.seriousexplorations.com for a bigger populus. personally, my explorer gets anywhere from 23-27 mpg, but it's only half exploder w/ranger internals :E

Well, my '01 Sport with the V6 used to get on average 18-20 MPG til I put 32" BFG A/T's on it. :)
Its pretty much stock except for the K & N filter.

Mines an '01 Sport 4x4, 4.0 SOHC, 5 spd manual, 22 mpg highway. (I get on it once in a while too)

Hey tribalsplash I've got the same kind of Explorer, and I was thinking of putting some 31s on it. Did those 32s fit pretty good, any rubbing? any pics? thanks

You know I measured my tire and its only 31 inches. I saw an ad that said the same size tire I got was a 32" tire(265/75/16). I thought 32" seemed a little large so I went out and measured it. I had just got those tires put on when I made that last post. But anyway the 31's fit nice with no rubing at all. 32's would probably fit too with a torsion twist and an add-a-leaf. Thats what I'm thinking about doing with mine just to get a little lift out of it and make it look a little better.
As for pics I don't have anything current but, if I think about it later I'll try an take some.
