we had a 94 aerostar 3.0 come in to work today for belts and hoses replacement and i noticed that the driverside manifold flange to the down pipe is right by number 5 cyl... the pass side is right by number 3 (which looks fairly similar arrangement to mine, only a few inches forward on the aerostar) so i figure if you go to the auto recyclers and buy two drivers side manifolds and flip one so it exits out towards the front of the truck, make a cross over pipe to the drivers side, y pipe, turbo, and there you have it... in theory at least. i figured with the manifold flanges acutally in the engine compartment it would be alot easier than trying to use stock ranger manifolds or trying to make your own. any thoughts on this anyone?

I thought basically the same thing...I have a pair of Aerostar manifolds in a box on the floor in one of the closets in my apartment in Buffalo...They are awaiting usage in one of the myriad of projects that I am currently working on (no, its not turbo-related)
...Yeah, I think your idea is quite feasible, although it would depend on exactly how the manifolds line up when bolted to the engine...
...Definately something to look in to if you are serious about it...You could even port the manifolds, too, and get some more flow...They are fairly restrictive as-cast...

A turbo 3.0 V-6 ranger would rock!!! think of it, you pull up to some punk in a civic and he starts revving his ricer at you thinking he is tuff crap. you rev back but with the turbo and a blow off valve. thericer dude would we himself.

I tried flipping my manifolds also but the gasket doesn;t line up. Yea it will bolt up but passages will not line up

Why don't you just use Taurus manifolds? They already point down and to the front of the engine....
