Well I went to the track last night to run my truck for the 1st time ever. I've been to the track alot but never run there. I got there a little late and the temprature was close to 80 degrees.

My mechanic (an experienced driver) ran the 1st pass of 15.3 @ 89 mph. He said I had pulled out too much timing so it was very flat at the top end.

I put back in some timing, and I drove the next pass. I spun too much tire (hey my 1st time at the track), and I heard detonation, so I short shifted to a 15.8 @ 88 mph.

I pulled out half of the timing I added, but didn't have enough time to make another pass. On the way home it felt much better than it did on the pass I made, and no detonation.

With practice I should be able to break into the 14's, but I was just happy to have run. I've broken my cherry now. :naughty:

On the plus size I have this nice pic:

those times sound great to me. I have a 3.0 and would love to be running even some high 16s. Maybe I am close. I've never been to the track, at least not to race. I am concidering getting the G tech.:afro:

Congrats of your first night out!! I'm sure with better traction and more experience, you'll be WELL into the 14's. Good luck!!

Doesn't sound too bad, Whackster. It's hard to set there the first time, or even the first time of the season, and concentrate on the light when all you can think about are your knees knocking. It gets easier after a while. :)

Hey guy, congrats on the times. That'st eh exact same first run time I had with the Paxton, 15.30. What's your top end speed? It takes a while to figure out how to launch our trucks, adn you'll find that they really don't get too good on the 60ft mark but turn it on by half track. Gotta love the Vortech! But anyways, when you said you pulled timing out I guess you meant with the DIS-4, on top end only as well? How much, if you don't mind telling, did you do to it. I havn't had a chance to monkey with my DIS unit yet and really want to know how much the timing retard helps out. Thanks guy, and give it time you'll be in the 14's in no time!! LAter DOug904:nuts:

Yeah, we pulled out the timing with the DIS4. I started out with 12 degrees taken out. After the 1st pass my mechanic said that that wasy way too much and to try 3 deg. It detonated so I went for the mid road at 7 degrees taken out. It's running much better now, than at both 12 and 3.
