Either just take the top part of your stock airbox off and leave it open UNLESS you just wanna take the box off completely. Just buy a KN cone filter (they sell Universal ones that can be bought at a auto parts store) and attach it to the end of the stock black rubber hose. Or you can go to a exhaust shop and have them bend you a pipe that matches the rubber hose..

I have the 2.9 in my 90 Bronco II. I would like to put the universal cone on mine. What about the 2 hoses attached to the top of the air box? Do I need them? Thanks

If I were going to do this I would make some type of box to avoid sucking the hot engine compartment air into the engine and use plastic not metal, again to avoid the heat. Just my opinion.

They control the warm air system during cold starts. You can remove them, just make sure you plug the vacuum source and the intake manifold.
