I have a 99 ford ranger lifted about 7 1/2 inches with 35's. Im running the stock 4.10's with a 3.0L. i need some more horse power. and im really interested in swapping to the explorer v8. I live in california so it has to be smog legal. i know i have seen some posts on this website about the parts i will need to acquire, but i cant seem to find them any longer. If at all possible can anyone tell me EXACTLY what i would need out of this explorer, and what else i would need to buy to drop the 5.0 in and still have the 4x4 work? And how good of gas mileage u guys gettin with these 5.0's? and whats some good prices fro the motor and parts??? roughly how much am, i lookin. do i need to do a rebuild??? any help would be much appreciated!

Basically buy a wrecked Explorer and you have all parts. Keep in mind you will have AWD, not 4x4 with hi/lo ranger. For that, you have few options, all require additional funds. Search on the main V8 page for more detail or contact me for specific questions. I have a 1999 4x4 (AWD) V8 Ranger.
