About how much would a rebuild cost for one that has 70,000 on it? also, could i bolt it up to my stock ranger transmission? or would a T-5 be required? One more thing, how expensive is it to go from a T3 to a T3/T4? The sound of a turbo spooling and the wastegate opening is just goooooooooooood....

i almost forgot, the engine doesn't come with a computer or wiring harness. Is it hard to find a computer and wiring harness for that year SVO? thanks

Read through the FAQ (http://www.rangerforum.net/mods/fastfourward/23tfaq.shtml) - it's got answers to most of your questions.

Cost of rebuilding is going to vary depending on your area and exactly what your engine needs - with only 70k miles on it, I'd be surprised if it needs much at all. I'd pull the oil pan and see what the bearings look like, and just give everything a real good examiniation, and quite possibly just drop it in as it sits.

The T3/T4 switch will run you around $500 or so, depending again on who you deal with. I'd hold that off until you get it running, if it was me, though.

Any EEC-IV wiring harness can be made to work with that computer, although you'll have to make the pins match whatever computer you get...Going into a 98 you'll be dealing with that anyway, so it's no big deal. This, your tranny question, and much more is in the FAQ....

I read somewhere that ignition mapping on the SVO computer provided more power. Is it important to find that specific computer? or will any EEC-IV do? like from a 95 and prior ranger? I'm curious as to how well a computer out of an N/A vehicle will work with a turbo'd motor? maybe i should read that FAQ... :daze: thanks again

You'll need an EEC-IV computer from a turbocharged 2.3 of some flavor (there were several) and if you're going to use an intercooler, a computer from an intercooled application (84-86 SVO or 87-88 TC) will have a more aggressive timing curve to take advantage of the cooler intake charge.
