I know the noses are different, but would the headlights by them selves be equal? If not, they seem close....I'm curious as to if the euro clear head lights for the Ranger would fit (if they even make these for the Ranger yet?)
I don't know if they are the same on all years. The 01's look to be the same shape, but they have a different layout. The 01 Mazda has a clear headlight with almost clear side lights and a very small yellow lense on the side. The ranger has clear headlights but it also has another lense inside the headlight housing, maybe the turn signal. The side light on the Ranger is a larger yellow lense. I'd like to know if they are the same shape too, the billet grills that Jim has on ShopZone look like they would fit mine if they have the same shape. Mine has the same hood as the 98-00 Rangers and 01 XLT's. I have pics of my 99 that I could campare it to if we can get one of a 98-00 Mazda for comparison.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about on the 01 Rangers. They are different. It *seems* like they are very close on the 98-00 though. You can try to compare with this pic http://blacktxb3000.tripod.com/truck4.jpg with your 99. It's the best I have, but it's not a straight head shot and the grille guard is on there. (C&P the link since tripod sucks, I'm considering ditching them...) Someone with a 98-00 Mazda on here hopefully has a front pic.
I do know, for 98-00 at least, that the grilles are not the same. Yes, they have the same shape, but the Mazda grille is shorter. Here's how you can tell: look at the grille on a Ranger. It extends all the way to the bumper. Now look at one on a Mazda. It has a piece of painted metal under the grille between the grille and bumper. You can sorta see what I'm talking about in the above pic, but not very well since my truck is black.
This is how I discovered they were different. It didn't hit me until I was installing my grille guard and I couldn't get to the proper bolts (according to the Ranger instructions) since removing the grille didn't give me enough room. And comparing my view with the grille removed to the pic in the instructions, I knew something wasn't right. The next time I saw a ranger, I made sure to look at the grille just to verify.

I believe 98-00 headlight (driving light) portion is the same size and shape, as well as the corner, clear on the ranger, yellow portion on the Mazda. I think the main difference is the portion below, which is also related to the grille. The Mazda's have the composite painted piece below the headlights and grille, whereas the Ranger grill goes all the way down and has the yellow parking lights/turn signals in place of the composite piece.
