The SN2000 is the same series as the previous models - internally self contained oil and ball drive - they work pretty well as it is - not as efficient and longevity as a vortech, but........ There's a lot more to putting one on your splash than just getting the unit - you'll need all the bracketry and either fabricate the tubing or get the tubing from some source. Where are you getting this?

I'm running a full Paxton kit on my GT right now - it's nice and responsive, but mind you, not my daily driver, so I can vouch for the longevity. They make an oil cooler system for it that will extend the life of the blower for everyday usage.

im getting or atleast thinking about getting the unit from paradise wheels...i understand there will be a bit of fabricating involved but i have a guy that can take care of that stuff for me. i see a guy on here has an sn-89 for sale, how does it compare to the sn-2000..he has a lot more performance goodies that hes selling with it too. this truck won't be my daily driver probably more of a weekend warrior..thanks for your help..keep it coming! :)

Craig at Paradise Wheels may have enough leftover parts from Ranger kits to be able to put you a kit together with little to no fabrication on your part. The kit that Orion was selling (I'm not sure it's available any longer) was for a 4.0 SOHC - you'd have only been able to use just the supercharger and would still have to fabricate the mounts, etc.

orion said the sn-89 hes selling has double the output of the sn-2000....i would be willing to put the money in to having the tubes and brackets fabricated to work on my 4.0 ohv. im just wondering the sn-2000 is worth the money performance and quality wise..

If you don't have the rest of the engine built up for that much boost, all you'll do is generate a lot of pressure that can't do anything. A stock or near stock engine will live a lot better with the boost levels out of the SN2000. (when I say stock, I'm talking about the base engine - block, heads, cam)

do you know how much boost the sn-2000 will make approximately.? i plan on upgrading to better heads and a cam down the road. do you think the sn-2000 will suit me ok now and down the road when i get more performance mods too? thanks for your help. if i get the unit from paradise wheels which parts exactly should i ask the guy for so it will fit my ohv? oh yeah and am i gonna have to upgrade to a higher output fuel pump and injectors? i am going to get a chip burned for me soon after i supercharger it.

The Paxton will provide you with a nice amount of power. Walt got his dyno'd before the motor went and he put down over 250rwhp. I don't think you'll be disappointed no matter what option you choose. Supercharger your truck will deffinately make it a lot more fun to drive.

so you think i should just stick with the sn-2000 instead of the sn-89, cause i can get the sn-2000 for $1500 plus shipping which doesn't seem to bad. i just don't want to get it and not be too impressed with it and have to upgrade right away. will i have the ability to get more power out of this unit later on, or will i hit a wall at a certain boost level? how many pounds of boost will i be making do you think? oh and any parts you can think of that i will need to get from paradise wheels with this kit that will make it as close to bolt on as possible...or any performance parts? thanks :driving:

OK, the kit from Paradise will come with everything you need to hook it up and get it running well. It'll make around 6# boost and about the only thing you should have to modify on your 97 is to either relocate the battery or at least switch to a much 'thinner' one (type 51, I think). Everything else will work fine.

As to the power levels, with a stock motor, headers, 70mm MAF, 66mm TB, the best I've run is 14.32 with the Paxton showing 5# boost - that's pretty good for a stock block - anyone will tell you that.

On my built block with 422 cam, fully ported and polished heads/intake, and everything else described above, the motor was making 255 rwhp/313 rwtq on 4# boost - as it turns out, I was making that power on only 5 cylinders. We found a cracked piston when I ran checks to find out why the motor was sluggish - looked to be a defective piston. I've since gotten better pistons and my dyno guy says that I should be putting close to 300 rwhp based on what he saw before - this will be on the stock Paxton. Engine is back together - just waiting for a quiet weekend to swap it in. Should be in the low 13's - maybe lower with tweaking.

Seems to me the kit will be just fine, but that's your decision.
