Looks like I am putting the Explorer Express blower on my Ranger. It is a 2002 with a stick. I am not going to be doing burnouts at every corner or drag racing, but I will dip in to the power from time to time. Anyway, I need to know what I can do to upgrade the weak manual tranny. New Clutch ( CF I, II, or DF?, flywheel, etc?) maybe? What are your thoughts?
Thanks,

The tranny internals are already a little heavier duty than previous versions, a CF II clutch would be a good investment, no aftermarket flywheels available. The factory stuff is actually quite rugged - I've been running stock stuff behind a blown OHV with quite a few dragstrip launches - only problem I've had is shifter forks on the power shifts.
8secsplash used to run factory clutch and M5 tranny with a lot of nitrous with no problems before he switched to a C4 auto tranny.

As Bird says, the 5 speed manual is pretty tough if treated properly. This is my third supercharged Ranger and I have run from 10 - 15 pound boost setups. My current 2004 EDGE is running 15# of boost and I drive it quite hard. It is stock including clutch assembly. If you don't 'power shift' or side-step the clutch it will last just fine. When it is time to replace the clutch you could upgrade then.

Jimmy did this:

several times over with a stock 5speed and a stock clutch before he broke anything. And the first thing to break was actually one of the axles. It wasn't till he upgraded the rear to 31 splines that he actually broke one of the gears in the trans on a launch.

Try www.specclutch.com they make clutches for anything. I have several stage II's in my customers stangs and no probs. Customer service is second to none.

Sean,
The first part of that quote I might buy, the second, yeah...right....
You're going to appreciate the nice gain in torque when you're off the pavement bud.
