Just wondering....:E
gopher_6_9 Jun 25 2005, 06:30am yep, but not worth it man, the explorer intake flows supposadly within like 5 cfm of that intake.
pinellas50 Jun 25 2005, 07:11am Gopher is right as far as the Explorer intake flow ability. It is another variant of the GT40. I got mine for $220.

However, the true GT40 has a much better bling factor compared to the Explorer. For me, and extra $400 didn't make sense just for the look.
I just had my lower ported by Tmoss from corral.net. It should now compare or outflow most of the aftermarket intakes. So I have a total of $330 in mine and it will better the GT40 pictured hands down.
Just my .02
John Moorehead Jun 25 2005, 07:21am Good deal, thanks guys!
I loved the way it looked, BUT, the good thing about the factory Explorer intake is that I can put the Saleen plate on top of it, where it normally says "5.0"....
That'll add to the bling factor allright :E.
gopher_6_9 Jun 25 2005, 01:26pm yeah the one you posted does look better, but IMO if you are doing the explorer just use it, that way you can put that money to other uses (ie if you are planning on renting a car like you said that will almost pay for it for a week.).
pinellas50 Jun 25 2005, 02:10pm Renting a car?

The ranger is his daily and he would need something else to drive while we swapped the 5.0L in. The general consensus is with mine and Bart's experiance and with the help of John and possibly Josh (99supercab) we would have the thing in and running in 1 or 2 days if he can get a good running donor and we do a direct swap, but just in case......
John Moorehead Jun 25 2005, 03:11pm ^^^Yep, you nailed it...
However, my g/f said she wouldn't mind being my wheels for a few days, so that's cool! I may not even have to rent.
Oh, and on the engine, I will most definately get a donor vehicle. Too many "IF's" w/o one, and who know, there might be a center console in good shape! ;)
I'd just be more comfortable doing that. We could let Josh (Smith) put that badass diesel to use towing the Exploder.........:naughty:
The only problem with Smith helping is Saturdays are his best $$$ days for the tint business, so I'd hate to cut into that....he's already helped me enough as it is!

Me either....baby steps, though. I gotta get a house first! Then I can play....:naughty:
Wed Turner Jun 27 2005, 08:42pm I don't know how far into this you are, but there's a wrecked explorer in the yard down the street from our house. If anyone is curious on pricing let me know and I'll got down there and talk to the guy. Gerry and I noticed on Saturday when we were there looking for parts for my damned focus.

Sure, You get a donor vehicle that runs and pulls, and buy any other parts and some beer ;) but I don't have a place to do it (They get kinda pissy at me working on other peoples stuff at my grandparents and I can't do it at work without charging you so....).
