View Full Version : injector upgrade..need some help
97lowrider Jul 04 2005, 10:15pm looking to upgrade my injectors for the upcoming supercharger install on my 97 4.0 OHV..what # rate, and what brand do you guys think i should get..i will be using a paxton sn-2000 charger..around 5-6 #'s of boost. so far i have headers and a 66mm throttle body on and thats it..the charger is waiting to go on and i have a FMU unit for it too..will upgraded injectors work ok with an FMU and stock fuel pump? i will probably upgrade to a better fuel pump and stuff later but for right now im just lookin to do injectors. any thing i forgot or any help you could give me? also where could i get the injectors from, and cheap at that? thanks
The Paxton kit was designed to be used with the factory pieces - MAF, TB and injectors and the FMU is already set up for those injectors specifically. You can get larger injectors, but you'll have to get the necessary parts to recalibrate the FMU and also recalibrate the PCM to work with those injectors (chip or programmer). While you're at it, might as well get a larger MAF to go with it and have the chip tuned for that also.

97lowrider Jul 05 2005, 06:44pm i plan on all those things actually..just wondering what # rate i should get..
Wed Turner Jul 05 2005, 07:46pm If your going to upgrade your injectors, get a new maf, and a tune, than you might as go all the way and just ditch your FMU. If your going to do straight injectors, I'd suggest going with 30's.
97lowrider Jul 06 2005, 03:06pm what all # rates do they have? and where can i get them cheap?
Gerry Jul 06 2005, 08:54pm I've seen injectors from 19's all the way up to 88's. Cheap.... try ebay. I got my first set of 8 24's for $120 off ebay.
Here's a set of 30's

is $184 expensive for 6 new 30# injectors?
Brian Mckelvey Jul 08 2005, 03:30pm Before you buy, I have 6 30# Ford Motorsport injectors for half that. Just waiting to see if they are sold to someone right now, if not they are available.
6pack Jul 08 2005, 06:04pm Hey Brian,
I will take dibs if you still have them, assuming 97lowrider does not want them. They will work on my 03 SOHC, correct?
97lowrider Jul 08 2005, 06:56pm i want them. PM sent
6pack Jul 08 2005, 07:12pm Bummer.
97lowrider Jul 09 2005, 01:08pm yeah he said they were sold anyways..
6pack Jul 09 2005, 08:07pm Double bummer.
noraacevedo Jul 10 2005, 09:34am 30#
97lowrider Jul 17 2005, 10:04am so...anybody got some 30# injectors and a 75mm or 80mm maf they are looking to get rid of?
b4000 Jul 21 2005, 08:58pm I don't know if anyone really cares, but I'm running a about 5-6 pounds of boost with stock injectors and a Vanir 63mm TB, and it's all good.
Wed Turner Jul 22 2005, 06:50am You're still only boosting to 5-6lbs? You should be getting more out of that unit than that.

Maybe I've got a slight vacuum leak, or maybe I'm chicken. I still have that CEL problem right now. I'm trying to get it sorted out... any ideas?
CruzNlife1 Aug 06 2005, 10:58am Excellent place to buy injectors would have to be http://www.s-rracing.com
I got my 75lb injectors from them 2 months ago, 262 shipped. Their prices are excellent. Fast shipping
