Did a few searches before I though I would ask these questions:

1. Is it possible to run the SOHC with 12-15 lbs of boost from a supercharger, with worked internals, and if so, which internals? which supercharger?

2. What have people with a m90 set-up on their SOHC ran in the 1/4 (Couldn't find any posts)

3. I know I'm very ignorant on the subject of forced induction and how a lot of it works, but I'm trying to learn everything that I can, and since most of you guys are quite educated on the subject, I though I would ask you, So I'm asking for you to have a little patience with me.

Thanks

If you look at Brian Mckelvey's latest endeavors, you'll see that he's running 12+ # boost on a stock block with no problems and approaching 300 rwhp. Granted, he's running an M112 S/C but it should be pretty close with an M90 also.

Those kinds of numbers would get you into the mid 12's if you can get enough traction......my first run on the new motor with a nasty tune and shutting down at 2/3 track and coasting took me to a 13.9. When I get the tune straight, I should be in the 12's easily with approximately the same numbers at the rear wheels.

is brian running water/alcohol injection with the 12lbs of boost?

I would like to try and run 10lbs and have a reliable daily driver.I'm just curious to see what you all had to say about my idea of running 12-15 lbs of boost.

Anything can be done, but then you say reliable daily driver... not so sure about that. You should get in touch with Brian, he has been very helpful to me in my supercharging quest. :)

Mine is a daily driver. It spends 50% of its time under boost (anywhere from 10 -15# depending on what I am up against). Doug did an excellent job of fine tuning the calibration of timing and A/F on the dyno, so I do not need to run any water or alcohol mix. I am getting 293HP and over 321 Ft-lb at the rear wheels. It will eat a Mustang GT any day of the week and drives like a stock Ranger until you push the go pedal. Also, I have stock cast iron manifolds and stock heads, but I do have a custom exhaust and MAF. I run a locker rearend with 4:10 gears and James Duff long traction bars to get it to lock up (32x12.5 rubber).

I have put about 10K miles on it since Doug did the tuning, put 3K on a single trip to Canada. It runs great. I must say I really like the SOHC regardless of some of the timing chain problems that guys have had (I am one of the lucky ones that did not have this problem).

is it possible to run that much boost on an OHV? of course i have a paxton sn-2000 s/c and im guessing it can't make or handle that much boost. whats the max boost i could get out of the sn-2000? thanks

Thanks Brian, are you getting 10lbs-15lbs with the Mp112? Aside from the benefits of a 4.10 rearend with that setup, would the stock 8.8" 3.55 gears handle that much power? I'm mainly looking to get everything I can out of that m90 kit, and had a few hypothetical questions about the 4.0 sohc's capabilities.

I think for traction ill haul a mini cooper around...

Your stock 8.8 will handle that much power not matter what gears you have in it.

My OHV put up with 13 psi of boost with no problems. Just remember guys, it's all in the tuning. If done properly you can run almost anything if you tune it right.

would my sn-2000 be capable of making like 10-15 lbs of boost?

A different impeller and a smaller pulley would do it..............

I am running an MP112 that puts out 15# if I hold the pedal on the floor. I typically only need to press the pedal about 3/4 down to beat most of the stuff I run against and that is 10-12# of boost. Yes the 8.8 is a pretty solid differential and it will stand up fine.

Paradise Wheels where you got the charger from will probably be willing to do the impellar upgrade for you. I wouldn't be suprised if they have pulleys for you as well.

cool ill have to give craig a call..besides getting a good tune and watching out for detontation etc.. is there anything else i need to watch out for when running that much boost? will my 30# injector and 80mm maf combo work good ya think? im guessing i would have to send the s/c in to have them upgrade the impeller for me?

Yes you have to send the supercharger in. You will DEFFINATELY need a tune. You'll want to watch the charger. Don't know of anyone that has tried to push a Paxton that hard. I'm sure it's capable of it, but get that oil cooler so you don't end up rebuilding it all the damned time because it wears out.

alright cool, thanks..sorry to hijack the thread. im gonna call craig on monday and see what he can do for me. i figure i might as well go big if im gonna go supercharged right? yah i hope i don't end up blowing the s/c, that would suck.

im mainly interested in squeezing all i can (safely) out of that m90 kit, i was just interested to see what my options were, so i though i would ask the experts about the issue, thanks for the replies
