ok, ive got a 2000 4.0 V6 Ranger. from what ive heard around the forums, im guessing its an OHV engine. i would like to get a supercharger on there but i cant find any applications. in a previous thread, someone said that a lot of fabrication would be required. which superchargers will regualrly fit the 4.0 V6 OHV? and, which superchargers, with some fabrication, will fit and with what kinds of fabrication? now, i've also heard some stuff about turbochargers. which ones will fit the 4.0 V6 because the only ones i've found will only fit the 2.3 engines. thanks

*edit* actually, would something like this fit? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brand-New-Eaton-MP62-Supercharger-4th-generation-M62_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33741QQitemZ7990267 652QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
also, should i be looking for mp62's or mp90's?

with enough fab work anything is possible. i'd buy that up quick though. 450 is a great price and the reserve is already met.

An M90 would be more desirable because you could run the same amount of boost as you would with a M62, but it won't heat the air up as much. You're stuck either finding a used kit on ebay or anyplace else or fabricating everything you'd need to get the supercharger on your truck.

For example, here's what you'd need to install a Vortech or any other centrifigual supercharger on your truck.

The head unit
Some sort of mounting system to mount the head unit on to the truck
pulley system that allows you to run a belt to power the charger
intake and discharge tubes to connect the filter/maf to the supercharger and than the supercharger to the tb
You will also have to address the oiling system of the charger. Some makes have a self contained oiling system, others use engine oil, still others have a sperate oiling system that needs to be installed.
You will have to come up with a way to control fuel and spark. More power means more fuel is going to be needed. You will also want to figure a way that you can retard your timing in case you get detonation.

That should cover it. It sounds simple, but when you start putting everything together you'll find it's not as easy as it sounds. There's a lot of work to get one of these up and running and the biggest thing is getting it tuned properly once you get it installed. This will be the same for any type of forced induction wether it be a turbo charger, a roots supercharger, or a centrifigaul.

yea, right now im looking at getting a supercharger that looks like this http://www.automotive.eaton.com/product/engine_controls/superchargers/M90.asp
which i believe is the "roots" type. but what kinda fabrication would i be looking at? like, would i have to make a plate to bolt on to the intake manifold and to the supercharger or what?

*EDIT* and is there really no company out there that makes the intake plenum?

wow, thats a nice kit! only problem is that since i just bought my truck, i dont have $2,500 to spend on anything, even a sweet supercharger :bawl: but, do you make the intake plenums? because thats the only part that i'd really have trouble getting since i dont have a machine shop and there are no businesses close to me that machine stuff either.
