This may seem like a dum ? and I think I know the answer but on my 00 4.0 ohv engine, can I run a 190 in tank pump with a remote boost ref. fuel regulator and make my fuel sytem a return system and be ok with a S/C running 6-8 psi. If so what fuel pump do you suggest?

The idea is fine. Not sure exatally what your going to have to do to get it done though. The PCM actually pulses the fuel pump on the returnless fuel system to maintain proper fuel pressure. Your going to have to find a way somehow to stop the pulsing.

OK I didnt know the fuel supple was done by pulse's, can a chip take care of that? Ive seen where others say they have ran there truck with a chip and a MAF meter on no other mods to the fuel system but Im a little scaptical on that. Ive played with this on a 5.0 mustang and my eec tuner on my 2.3 turbo ranger but they where both return systems. Last thing I need top do is blow up my d/d. wife would kill me. :fire:

You can do a lot with a chip, but I just don't know if you could pull this off. You could go and find an EEC from an earlier, return equiped, truck. But I don't know if you have emissions testing there and if you did, that could cause problems.

Im rereadin all the posts on here and saw that you stated the above, and it dawned on me that I dont have a returnless system so can I run a lightin MAF meter and a Xcaliber tunner and still get it tuned without messing with the fuel system? Basicaly what Im trying to do is get the s/c installed for as cheap as possible (I know hp doesnt come cheap). But I want as little changed as possible under the hood too. Excuse my ignorence but Im just trying to learn and figure this stuff out. :huh
Might help me out if someone could post a full on you need-------to get it running and tuned kinda thing.

No, you DO HAVE a returnless fuel system. But you are correct about the Lightning MAF and getting a tuner. Depending on how much boost you want to run, you might even be able to pull it off without upgrading your injectors.

If I were you, I'd do this. 24lbs injectors, Bigger MAF (even the 80mm Mustang GT would work), and the beefy Focus pump (the returnless fuel pump of choice these days). Than find yourself a good chip tuner that will work with you to get everything dialed in just right.

Id like to deal with Doug on his Xcaliber tunner but I keep reading he is about 1500 miles from me and theres really no one in my area whos good at tunning that I know of. Im hopping that with my LM1 meter and its datalogging and wide band O2 senser I can tune it myself. Ive done pretty good with the LM1 on my turbo drag car but its all stand alone stuff (sds) and I have a feel for timing, fuel and boost set ups but with this ford computor Im a little nervous to fool with it (bad experence with eec tunner and PMX software).
But basicaly your saying a Mustang GT or Lightn MAF and a Focus fuel pump can work with the Xcaliber? Im only going to run the s/c at what ever the boost ends up being and from what Ive read its only going to be about 6psi. Im not looking to race this thing but more for making up the differnce in power the 33"s took from me. I tow a boat and drag car and thats about it.

Yeah that should be good. Getting a set of 24lb injectors would just help keep everything safe. With that setup Doug would deffinately be able to help you out. You might even consider getting the pro-racers package from him. That will let you tweak fuel, spark, shift points and all that good stuff on your own.
