I was just wondering what brand of subs you guys recomend. It will be either a 10" or 12" and it needs to be reliable. Thanks in advance!

Where's a button for RF? I run RF subs(always have) and have NEVER had ANY prob's with em. Maybe I'm the only one. . .

My first choice wasn`t on there so I had to go with Orion. Which sub is best is totally relivant to your budget, air space avaible, mounting depth avalible, and so on. No one sub does everything the best. Some subs are better for pure SPL while others are a better SQ sub.

What would be your first choice? I don't want RF or Sony subs. Just a personal preference and what I have heard about them. I would of liked to have Phoenix Gold and JBL subs as choices, but it would only alow 10 choices. Thanks for the input guys!

What did you hear??? Cuz the only ppl i ever heard bad from, were some guys that i knew that thought you had to push 1kwatt to a 800w speaker. And for some reason they could never figure out why their fosgates always blew.. . .Also, are you going for loudness, or sound quality. I will admit RF isn't the BEST at sound quality, but they're LOUD. . . . From the subs I've heard, JL's have a nicer accoustic overall.

You all know how I feel about JL by now (pooo). ID Subs sound better then JLs and are louder and cheaper. Hummm makes ya wonder.
I have to fall back on good old C/V as I usually do.

My first choice would be Concept Audio, but the Smash series won`t fit in a regular cab box,so my second choice is the Orion XTR`s.

Thanks for replying. I don't think that I have ever heard of those subs before. I am surprised that their isn't any votes for Audiobahn since them seem to be so popular around where I live. You really seem to know a lot about audio stuff so could you tell me what you think about Kicker and Phoenix Gold subs? Thanks man!

JL YUCK. Oh sorry was that out loud?
Any way about the question on the PG subs.
The XS series sound good have have good bass responce. The X-max series are made of carbon fiber and are suposed to be better. (all the cars that had the x-max in them that come in didn't impress me but they had cheap a$$ amps on them)

Cerwin Vega. Bassn had 2 Vega series 15s and you had a hard time breathing in it the pressure was so great. I wouldn't ride with him then because it was way to loud for me. He has some stroker 18s wating to be put in. I am probally going to get him to put in 4 8" vega series subs in my extended cab.

i heard an 18 inch McCauley in a Jetta and it was the deepest, hardest hitting sub i have heard in my life. i also heard a 12 inch one and it was way better than my friends two JL W0 12's.
i would get a McCauley if i were looking for a new sub.

I would rate Kicker pretty high on my list. I haven`t had any experience with PG subs,so I can`t offer an opinion on them. As for Audiobahn, they are a very good subfor the money ,but it really depends on what your looking for out of a sub. Each differant brand does something a little better than the other.

As for Audiobahn They are good for the price BUT I have seen a lot of then spit their voice coil. The spyder comes up it seems and the v/c goes into about 100 peices inside the box.
I am pissed I missed the post that got locked up.:(

I've only heard wonderful things about JL subs. Never had one so can't say on that ground, although I do have/heavily use an Infinity Perfect 12.1 (12") sub in my ranger now. Got it cheap as hell brand new off Ebay (heh) and wow. Wow, i couldn't have asked for anything better.

JL Audio looks to be the most liked by you guys. I guess that's good since I know of 2 friends who are selling their JL Audio subs. Hmmmm........I wonder if I could fit 2 12s in a regular cab somehow without cutting through to the bed.

I like my current JL 12's much better than the kicker 12's I had. I'm only pushing them with a punch 360a2 and they still hit.

I definitely agree with the comment "JL Yuck". Why pay so much for something that you can get better at a lower price. All you pay for is the name. Oh well thats just my 2 cents. I have had fosgates, mtx, and a few others and the best that i have found are actually Memphis. They have awesome sound and they are loud as hell. I have two 10" memphis studio subs(they are the best they make but they were only 115 a piece so) i'm pushing them with a mtx thunder 2300 witch pushes about 150 rms through each and 600 peak. These subs are louder than 2 10's i had in a hatchback mustang and they drop really low. So i guess my recommendation would be Memphis. They are relatively new on the scene and they have great stuff.

Audiomobile MASS subs are the best I have heard, with the music I like. It really all depends on what you listen to and how YOU like it to sound. I believe Juggernaughts by MMATS hold the world record for DBs but they are so sloppy. If you listen to rock they would be the last thing to put in there, whereas for rap they arent half bad. I prefer a good SQ type 10 or 12 inch that can keep up with my music (mainly rock, metal).

I personally always enjoyed Rockford Fosgate Subs. In years past their subs we more motivated toward raw SPL, but their newer series of subs balace raw sound pressure and sound quality for low end frequencies. But then again you can have the best sounding subs in the world, if you put a crappy underpowered amp to them, the'll sound crappy also...

Image Dynamics.. IDQ's are great for SQ

I'd give JL a few thumbs down

I think RF is ALRIGHT but is a bit overpriced for what it is

Again that is just MY OPINION

I've pretty much decided to go with 2 10" Alpine subs for my setup with a Alpine V12 M100 amp. My friend has 4 10" Type-R's in his Integra and they are sweet subs. Still undecided about HU though prob stick with Alpine or a Pioneer.

Image Dynamics gets my vote..

low volume requirements and shallow mounting depth make IDQ's the perfect driver for small box/small truck applications, plus they just sound awesome!

I replaced two JL 10's with a single IDQ10 and that improved the low end of my system.

I agree on the Memphis statement. They are very good subs for the money but if you want balls to the wall loud, I like Kicker. I used to have a single 10" Kicker CompVR in my truck running off a Punch 250a2 (actually an old 125.2 but rates are the same as a 250a2) and it slammed pretty good for a single sub set-up.

Currently, I'm running a walk-through with 4 Fultron Depth Charge 12's (made by memphis) and bought them for $40 a piece brand new from a wholesale shop in Houston, TX.
It makes my friend mad cause it is way louder than his 2 Punch Power DVC's that he paid $350 a piece for.

It's loud enough for me (it'll take your breath away) but I can never have it loud enough.

My amp is a RF Power 800a4. I plan on getting a bigger alternator, a second cap., a second Power 800a4 and going with 4 Infinity Perfect 12.1's.

I dunno, I just gotta get the rest of my truck finished first...

From my experiense with subs I'd have to say Kicker and JL's It depends what series you want, how much room you got and how low of the bass do you actualy want to feel. B4 you buy check the ohms, hertz, wattage, how big the magnet and the brand compare prices. Get a Crutchfield catalog or get on their website. there are some brands aint worth a dime. It also depends what brand of an amp you running with your subs, and a head unit can also make alot of difference. Check out the new line of Kicker, they go down to 2ohms and Dual Voice Coils are awsome, thats a good and known brand you will feel them. Thats what Im going to get whenever I get my 60 out.I voted for Kicker.BTW check the distortion levels:nuts:
But thats only my opinion.
