I was under the truck today and noticed I am stll leaking differential fluid from where the driveshaft connects with the differetnial. Does anyone know if there is a seal in there that could have blown out? I don't have much experience with pulling apart gears, so would this be a easy or dificult fix?

It's probably the pinion seal. I've never done anything like that myself, but I think it may be pretty tricky to do if you've never done it before. The tricky part would be setting the gearlash with the right shims etc.
Remove the driveshaft, take the pinion nut off, remove the flange, and pry the seal out. Replace the seal, put a little oil or grease on the flange where the seal contacts, and tighten the pinion nut to 30 ft/lbs and you're good to go. It doesn't change anything on the gear setup. Pretty much the same process as you follow replacing the rear trans seal except you have the pinion nut and flange to remove.

Damn, I didn't realize it would be that easy. I thought you had to go from the inside. ;) :E

buyeah. Thanks guys. Gota a seal today, will probably have it done tomorro. And zoomer I have never seen you pos the actual torque spec on anything. The old, it's tight enough method dosn't work on this one?
Actually you're right. I've never used a torque wrench on one, just turned it until it felt tight enough. But since the spec was handy I thought I'd post it. To be honest, that doesn't sound tight enough to me. But there are pinion bearings and cups in there that you're putting pressure on so I suppose that might be enough.
