Freetown state forest, go to assonet next to berkley and taunton they will be a pizza joint when you got off the assonet exit on the left and a little plaza with a bank and a convienent store go to the end of the convient store before the post office there will be a path that leads to some bitchen spots if not there go to dighton rock right up the road and there will be tons of roads to get in there. If you follow past dighton rock about 15 min there will be a entrance to go into amy's hide away three roads or so after that there will be an entrance to enter freetown state forest good trails in there find the rock quarry and you find some good trails.

Where in the South Shore are you located?

I used to live in East Taunton , and I used to go to Profile Rock all the time. :)

Theres also an old service road down in Fall River running along side the city's water resevior and the FreeTown State Forest as well.

A word of doing it at night though, be sure to bring some tools with you incase you get a flat, especially a Torch light, thats maybe one of the few places where you don't actually see any city lights and your miles from any store or house for the matter.

I drove there with my truck one night and damn was it scary, it was pitch black and I did not want to stop even though I needed to use the bathroom really bad.

Directions on how to get there are as follows:

Hop on RT 24 South, get off at the Aiport Rd exit in Fall River, going around the Rotary take the Aiport Rd over the bridge, and go thru the set of lights and take a right, follow the Industrial Park Rd all the way to the end.

At that point there should be a road that curves right and to the left there should be an orange gate blocking the road that leads up to the former city landfill.

Take a right a stay on it until it ends, at the 'T' insection take a left, be careful not to speed though thats one part of the city roads they've basically neglected, this small road will take you across the resevior, if you stop to look to your right you can see the highway about 6 miles down stream.

Now for the trail details:

If you continue to go there will be a fork in the road if you go left it will take you back into Freetown/Lakeville if you go right it will take you down the road towards Westport and Route 6 .

The second time I went I followed it to the right,I went down the road but then it splits once again, I think if you stay to the right again it will bring you up RT 6 but I'm not sure where, I stayed to the left when I came across it.

It kinda baffles you because you don't know what to expect on that road so be very cautious, theres usually a Park Ranger (oddly enough he or she tools around in an '04 Ranger) patroling the area, I followed it and it came out by Hixville in Westport, the road I took ended up taking me under I-95 and out by the old bowling lanes and a Mobil gas station.

As far as any other trails around Southeastern Massaschusetts that as much as I know. I've been living in New Hampshire for about 2 years now but I was recently in Taunton for a little bit earlier this year.

I say we organize a meet soon for the NorthEastern members.

I'm in leominster, there's a sandpit that we ride at like 30 seconds from my house. If you ever wanna come play around down there, just pm me and we can hang out. my lowered 2wd wouldn't do so well back there.

Well I live across the street from the freetown state forest and yes i would have to agree that it is a little freaky at night. But there are a large amount of offroading oppurtunites. Even my avatar is from the state forest. But the road and pits are constantly patrolled by the Environmental Police.
