When you guys are racing the 4.0 and/or the 4.0 SOHC What Rpms do you shift at? My 4.0 SOHC will hit about 85 in 3rd at about 5500 RPM Where is the Redline on these?

If you have the OHC engine, I would say around 6000. Those engines like to rev, and don't pull as well down low. Go to the track and try different techniques. I shift at around 5000rpm with my OHV 4.0L and have some mods done to it. At the track, I will usually shift at around 4800rpm from 1st to 2nd, and then at 5000rpm from 2nd to 3rd.

I just wonded her out in 3rd hit 90 at about 5800 did have the heart to go any faster plus the Govener would of kicked in at 92

If it helps any, with the auto the OHC engines shift at 5800 under full throttle. It surprises me how smooth these engines are even turning that kind of rpms. :eek:

Now I am really curious on what shell do seeing that I can just about and proably could hit the govener with 2 gears left to go.

You had better get a job soon, you're going to need it to pay the tickets you're going to get running around at 90 mph all the time. :eek:

I guess I have been pretty lucky I have only gotten one ticket since I have been driving, and that was for squealing the tires.
