Hey their fellas just wandering what if any aftermarket cam you are running. I am going to rebuild my 2.8 some time soon, and want to hop it up a little. I would also like to know how it affected your truck and how it sounds with.
I'm looking for something that will compliment the other mods I have done and that will sound good and be distinctive (possibly wrong word here).

Well I have a 2.8, but I haven't run it in a while. I have it in a now wrecked 85 ranger and I'm looking for a donor truck to do the transplant and install the offy manifold, etc. When I rebuilt my 2.8 i put in a crane cam (422101, search for it on cranecams.com). This cam with the recommended dual springs made a world of difference in my truck. All together I had the duraspark conversion, crane cam and springs, bored 60 over (would have preffered 40), shaved heads 0.030", edelbrock headers and a holley 350 cfm 2 bbl. All in all these mods made a huge difference in performance and the sound was excellent. The cam by far made the most difference, and you should also get a copy of Sven Pruett's book "How to Build and Modify Ford 60 degree V6 Engines." Hope this helps, and if you search the web there are a handful of manufacturers that make cams for the 2.8 (most not cheap), let me know if you have any other questions.

Well apparantley Crane no longer makes that cam, don't know that it is what I would have wanted anyway. This is the cam I'm planning to get Comp Cams 38-241-4 (http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Search/CamDetails.asp?PartNumber=38-241-4), plan to get it in the SK kit that includes the timing set, and lifters. I alredy got the DS conversion, offy, 390 cfm holley, and dual exhaust. I've heard that that book can't be found, and when one does show-up it costs an arm and a leg.

I found a copy of that book on CD from a guy in the ranger engine forum section on the ford-trucks.com website. He is only charging like $5 or $10 dollars for copies. Try this link http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=430028
