turboguru Feb 24 2006, 04:54pm Whats up, Im pretty new here but I just got my new tranny in today and everything is working great. This might be in the wrong section but maybe i can be of some technical help to anyone wanting to do the same thing as I did. By the first 3 pictures would you be able to guess what was under the hood?

Kevin Feb 24 2006, 05:13pm Kickass! Welcome aboard! Your truck is the ULTIMATE sleeper!
95Rangerxlt Feb 24 2006, 05:29pm Lets see some more pics of how you have everything run, Also what are you using for a computer. NATE
turboguru Feb 24 2006, 05:34pm the block and wiring is from a wrecked 95 gt. the turbo is off a wrecked cummins deisel. has a C4 tranny with kevlar blue clutches, 3000 stall, transbrake, and manual reverse valve body. the rear is an 8.8 with 3.73s from a wrecked explorer. pretty much the whole truck was built from a junk yard.

D.Hearne Feb 24 2006, 05:43pm :secret: Let us know how the cooling system works when you're driving in traffic in july and august.:E
turboguru Feb 24 2006, 06:08pm its not bad at all, i drove this truck everyday in houston traffic for about 6 mos when i was between cars. ....and that was with iron heads. it would reach 220 on REALLY hot days. but normally stays at 180. i usually trailer it if its hot out.
tmsoko Feb 24 2006, 06:51pm What does it run in the quarter? Any dyno runs?
Put up some more pictures of the engine bay and exhaust routing.
Great job!
turboguru Feb 24 2006, 07:01pm thanks! ive never ran it in the 1/4. with the c4 and 3.73 gears it will take a tall slick so i wont run out of gear. its more set up for 1/8th mi. the exhaust is just a 4 inch downpipe dumped before the axle. its really not as loud as you would think tho.
gregr Feb 24 2006, 07:19pm pretty much the whole truck was built from a junk yard.
There's nothing better than a good junkyard build.
Awsome truck:thumbsup:
Greg
Kevin Feb 24 2006, 07:22pm This thing gets me excited. I love it. :E
95ranger3point0 Feb 24 2006, 08:37pm mental note: when in houston, never race a grey 2nd gen ranger...:o:
turboguru Feb 25 2006, 12:13am HAHA thanks for the compliments guys. ill try to get to the track soon and post up some times.....should get some easy deep 7s well in the 90s

When does that turbo start spooling, does the MAF sensor handle the boost alright, any tuning of the EFI for boost? and now my lack of ford knowlage, is that an aftermarket GT40 intake?
turboguru Feb 25 2006, 02:35am spools at about 2500-3k, the maf is before the turbo but it handles it fine. no major tuning. its a tubular GT40 with the upper flipped around.
Drizzt Feb 25 2006, 10:25am hows your traction?
turboguru Feb 25 2006, 10:44am i dont know yet...i have only drove it with the "mud tires" but ill let you know once i get some slicks. it has traction bars but im not expecting it to hook great....
Ranger50 Feb 25 2006, 11:16am I guess I'll ask, what exhaust manifolds did you use?
B
turboguru Feb 25 2006, 11:41am BBK shorties
whitetail94 Feb 25 2006, 12:24pm man that truck is so sneaky its almost cruel
turboguru Feb 25 2006, 01:01pm ya......its surprised a few people in its day lol
nothin better than spanking an old guy in a new vette with a 4 thousand dollar ranger.....they usually look like this > :o:
Drizzt Feb 25 2006, 01:05pm yeah i was actually wondering how traction was with the BFG's, and i wasnt being sarcastic, i was wondering how a high powered vehicle did with tires like those, and how long the tires will last
D.Hearne Feb 25 2006, 03:21pm ya......its surprised a few people in its day lol

I got the same looks out of my 89 ext cab with the 331-sixpack. :driving: I once dogged a late TransAm on the freeway with the warmed up 5.0 that was there before the 331. The T/A driver really got this frustrated look when he couldn't shake that Ranger on his butt at 105 mph :chacha: With the 331, mine ran about the same temps over here in S.Louisiana, I really got nervous whenever the temps crept up above 220 with the aluminum heads.
Ben L Feb 25 2006, 04:11pm Very cool, definitely an "A" for ingenuity! Is that a tranny cooler mounted in the bed?
turboguru Feb 25 2006, 05:03pm Thanks, yes that is the tranny cooler and batt.
95ranger3point0 Feb 25 2006, 09:11pm sorta off topic, but where did you get the sixpack from D.Hearne? And what carbs does it run?
cvp88ranger Feb 25 2006, 09:25pm thats a real nice ranger you have there. love the sleeper look
pinellas50 Feb 26 2006, 03:59pm I'm still wanting to see more pics of how all the plumbing was run.
newstylecustoms Feb 26 2006, 05:42pm Your turbo placement is exactly what I had in mind. I would love to see more pictures.
D.Hearne Feb 26 2006, 10:48pm sorta off topic, but where did you get the sixpack from D.Hearne? And what carbs does it run? I bought my sixpack setup used.( barely) The guy I bought it from had it on a 66 Stang for about a year, so it was practically new. You can buy the complete setup new from Mustangs Unlimited for $1350 (intake, three Holley 250 cfm carbs, linkage, fuel log and aircleaner assembly) It's a reproduction of Ford's over the counter setup that was sold thru dealers in the late 60's to early 70's. They also offer a dual- four setup for the small blocks with two Holley 390's. The sixpack was completely streetable, I was driving mine on a 55 mile round trip commute (daily) back in September thru November last year before the new Stang came in. Throttle response was awesome and the kick it got when you got into the two secondaries was as well. Since I've pulled the 331, I'm going to tranfer the carbs to a 390 intake and put them on my 68 Merc.:driving:
turboguru Feb 26 2006, 10:59pm I will get some more pics up soon. That 331-sixpack setup sounds killer! I love the way those look. got any pics of it?
D.Hearne Feb 27 2006, 06:37am There's pics of it somewhere in here. Also at the Rangerstation.com forums in the V8 section under "Beware the 331 sixpack is up and running" I can't post them here ( I was a bad boy awile back and they still don't let me :secret: ) I'll see if I can find em here tomorrow when I have more time.
Kevin Feb 27 2006, 08:19am I can't post them here
Yes you can. You can't attach them (only mods can attach pictures), but you can link to them, using the and tags before and after. Pinellas50 will tell you how to hotlink pictures.
Rangerbrown Feb 27 2006, 02:02pm sickness
turboguru Feb 27 2006, 05:50pm thats looks awesome man!
D.Hearne Feb 27 2006, 09:20pm thats looks awesome man!
Correction: Looked Awesome. The 331 is sitting on the engine stand now:poke: Thanks for the flowers. Your's looks like it was done at the factory. Neat and tidy.
underpsi Oct 12 2006, 11:27pm You will get better results, and the boost will come in sooner, if you switch to some 3.55's.
GofastJnkie Apr 02 2008, 07:10pm looks like some good clean fun. more picks would be sweet to see the rest of the plumbing for everything. what type of crossover did you use for the left to right header?
