Flipdown Install - By Keith Krezonoski (93_Black_Ranger)

Here is my 7" flip down install pics. I got the screen from my girlfriend for valentines day and i never wasted any time getting it in the truck. I hope this will help with at least 1 install, which is why i took the time to make this write up for it. It probably took about 3 hours for the whole install, but i did it over the course of a week because of the very cold temperatures. I also did it in portions where i had time and when it was decent outside. I took lots of pictures along the way so this could be helpful. Because you cant really attach anything to the headliner just by itself i had to come up with a way to evenly distribute the load and keep the monitor from moving around.
First i had my girlfriend sit in the truck with me and we decided where the screen would go. We put it in the middle above the mirror so it could be viewed by both of us when driving. I traced the base of the flip-down to the headliner with a fine tip permanent marker. I then removed the headliner and brought it inside. Here is how it is going to sit:

I now had to decide what i was going to do for the whole support issue. The space between the headliner and metal roof wasn't much, so i had to choose something thin. It also had to be light so it wouldn't sag the headliner from the weight. I found a 20 ft piece of aluminum and cut it 2 strips down to the width of the headliner, minus a few inches and added 2 more pieces to tie the whole bracket together.

Measured up the flip down base and tig welded the bracket to keep it solid so it evenly distributes the load of the flip down and ensures it wont move around as much.

Here is how it will sit, but on the backside of the headliner.

Mocking it up to ensure a good fit

I then tackled the wiring part. I never used any of the ir transmitter wires because it was missing the remote. I then bundled and electrical taped the whole length of the harness into one for ease of routing down the pillar and through the dash. I also wired up an extra dome light that was included. I also included an extra wire to it so i can tap into my pin switches on both doors for some extra light when the doors open.

Screwed in the flip down base to secure the bracket to the underside of the headliner. I glued the bracket in so the flip down can be removed and put back in without removing the whole headliner .

I used industrial loctite glue on the underside and hot glue on the edges so it wouldn't move while the loctite glue was curing, Hot glue will work fine, but i just wanted to make sure it never moves at all.

The headliner and bracket are now one, for ever and ever. It is stuck so good i don't think it could ever be removed.

It is now time to go outside and freeze. I had routed the wire through the dash, and up the pillar and taped it dangling from the roof. I cut a slit in the headliner to pass the wires through. A good thing to do incase you want to remove it and sell the truck (it isn't that noticeable if removed). Attach all removed interior pieces and re-secure the headliner and your done.

The finished product. Looks like a million bucks, cost 80 and 3 hours work.
