Yeah. Just download the F@H client and let it run. Pretty much does everything on its own, you help out a good cause, and help the Rockin Rangers go higher up the charts.

Well, his numbers aren't necessarily going DOWN, but they aren't going up much. IIRC, I think he mentioned that he dropped a lot of PCs and is now down to just one working.

I hear ya about the heat. Had to shut one of my machines down cause my room was bout 90 degrees. Just couldn't handle it.

I just upgraded from my Athlon 64 3700+ to an Opteron 165, 1.8GHz DUal-core :) Now if I could only get F@H to run on both cores at 100%.....

DSL is a broadband. A 1.5Mbps connection would suffice for me, but the carrier (Verizon) is someone I don't EVER want to have to deal with for my own service (I deal with them through work all the time). So I am going to a 3Mbps cable connection with Charter.

I know DSL is a kind of broadband, what I meant to say was go with a cable connection, we had verizon DSL at home for 3 days and couldn't stand it, we've had our cable connection at home for almost 2 years, not to many issues

yup. I got the cable installed and my wireless all setup this week. It's nice. Now I just have to get my desktop over here. That's going to come after my parents get all of their stuff taken care of and this place livable.

But I'm at 41+ WU's right now, I haven't connected at home to get my other WU's sent in. I know it's got one to send and working on another.

I have about 10 frames left on this WU, so it'll be done in about 15 minutes, yay.

You have to use the console version of the program. Copy the program into two folders (ie. FAH-1 and FAH-2) then start the program, answer the questions, .. set as a SERVICE and pic cpu 0 (or 1, cant remember) and for the other copy , set the cpu for 1 or 2. When you start you system, both copies will start automatically, and since its not graphical... they are much more efficent.

They stopped sending them just after I started folding again. The 20k WUs actually went faster than these did. Most of these WUs take 1 min+ per Frame...the 20K WUs only took roughly 26 secs per frame....

Well, I just lost about half a WU, but now I will be putting up some big numbers. I've got 2 console instances of F@H running, one for each core, so I should be golden now :)

Its way down, but in the years I've been running it, it seams normal during the hot season.
I know I have to shut mine down now when not using them, the heat is brutal and the AC can't keep the comp room cool.
My 3.2 kept over heating, ah well, winter will be back soon

Ok, I had some issues with my computer for the last couple days, and it wasn't running the program right, but it's all taken care of, and my 5th WU will be done around noon today

I know how that goes. With the issues that I had, I'm not sure but something must've happened...either that, or the WU I had was a HUGE one...it took my computer over 2 days to finish this one...and my other instance is still working the same WU (it had issues in the beginning). But I am moving on up. It'll be a while before I gain another rank though....

You'd be surprised. I noticed that the fewer the frames the longer it takes. When I used to get 20k frame WU, it would take 25 seconds/frame....now I'm taking 15 mins/frame...but I think I get different WU's running console versus running GPU version.

Oh well, just a touch under 10,000 points for this team...I'm slightly over 10,000 (stupid typos)....

hahahahaha, I just let this computer sit for 12 hours and this WU is just barely half done, it's still taking 6 minutes a frame, my other WU were working at like 50 seconds a frame, oh well, it'll be done on Thursday

I'm still having some issues with it...I'm tempted to delete it all including services and starting fresh....we'll see how it goes over the weekend if the issues don't clear up.

If you are running the console version, then I concur. But I NEVER had problems with the GUI, as long as I had an internet connection.

Make it easy, do you see a gear in the taskbar when it's running? yes, it's the GUI version; No, it's the console version....with the console version you have to run it in command line to make any adjustments.

Most people do. That's the easiest version to run for most people. I was running the same thing until I got my dual core CPU...now in order to utilize the full power, I have to run two console versions.

Yup. That will happen if you don't have it set to save the progress often enough. I have mine set to save every 3 minutes (as often as possible).
