Hey guys,

I'm going to be picking up a 1985 Ford Ranger 4x4. Its got a 2.8L V6, and a 5 speed tranny. About 200,000 km. Everything looks bone stock. The truck isn't running at the moment, and the previous owner said that he took it in and the mechanic said it needs some timing work to get it running, but thats as specific as he got. It was his daily driver, and drove it to the gas station one day to fill up. It died on him. He managed to get it running, then a little ways down the road it just died again. He was getting a new truck anyways, so just has let it sit since then. This is my first Ranger, so I'm wondering where you guys think I should start? Any regular problems, or issues I should be aware of. Thanks alot!

Woah! Finally a new post in this forum. You might want to post this in the main 2.8/2.9 forum, seems like not many look at this forum. You might also want to try Therangerstation.com we've got a pretty good 2.8L forum over there as well. Wish you luck on getting it fixed sorry I can't really help you anymore than that. If you have much trouble with the stock setup I will suggest looking into the Duraspark Conversion, a lot of 2.8 owners have done this and like the results.
