Anyone interested in swapping beds? I have a black stepside on my 2001 XLT extended cab...6ft bed. I'm looking for a black fleetside in similar condition for a swap. I want it to be a clean swap; i.e. no painting. Just swap and go. So I want a black bed. Obviously, since I have the stepside now, I don't have the fender flares (wheel well molding) and would like a bed without them too if possible. Swap would include rear bumper, tailgate, tail lights, fuel neck and whatever else is needed to complete it.

Let me know if you're interested. I'm in north central NJ.

I can send pictures of the bed if interested.

Have you looked @/talked to junkyards? I know the beds sell for 700-1k, they'd probably swap you. Just a thought

No. My experiences with junkyards for newer vehicles (and I'd classify my 2001 as a newer vehicle) is that they call themselves "recyclers" and as you indicated they'd probably want a small fortune for a fleetside...and my bed.

I was hoping a swap would be a zero cash transaction for myself and another RPS member looking for a stepside.

damn...700-1k for a bed...I can get a perfect bed down the road from my house for $250 or less...depends on who is in the office...

More than likely you will need to buy one, I know I would never do a swap like that. I guess you want more room in the bed right?

The extra room would be nice, but I actually prefer the cleaner look of the fleetside bed. I got a great deal on this truck with the stepside bed, otherwise I would have purchased a fleetside bed from the get go.

Too bad this place is ~600miles from me.

Back TTT.

I thought getting someone to swap would be easy. I thought the stepsides were desireable???

I know i would never want a stepside.

Think about why you want the fleetside. Those are probaly the same reasons no one is going to swap with you

Well there's those of us who have the truck to haul junk around in. This group probably prefers the fleetside. Then there are those who are into the street/sport truck scene. This group I thought prefered the stepside.

I guess I'll just have to be patient.

P.S. I actually want a fleetside bed because I prefer that look moreso than I need the extra room in the bed.

What color is your truck? It's hard to tell from the picture. I don't want to have to repaint either.

Dave

Bummer on the color. (I mean I like the color of your truck and all, but we don't match.) I can't afford a paint job. That's why I wanted a swap and not just go out and buy a bed. However, I'd like to keep the option open. I know someone who knows someone who's just getting started in the paint business. Maybe I could get a deal if I let him get some real "practice" on the bed. I won't be able to find out until the week of 11 Sep though. I'll check back with you then.
