Hey guys, I have a 04 supercharged 4.0. the truck was dynoed at 233WHP and 264WHP wich is not enough for me I want MORE, and to built this 4.0 engine is alot of money so I just wanna start a new project built a V8, do internals everything then get a supercharger or maybe a turbo. Wich V8 engine would be best for boost?
Thanx in advance

a freshened and girdled 302 with stock internals, port/polished stock heads, mild cam, EFI spyder intake, and GT45 turbo on 9psi boost made 498rwhp/466lb-ft. that should be plenty for a street driven ranger...anymore and it would be useless due to traction problems.

I don't think there is any best motor for boost. Like any other, it would be best to build it for the application. A stock 5.0 motor can take 12 psi from a blower all day long with the proper tune.
As far as the best power adder.....well that's gonna get down to personal preference, what you are willing to do without, and how much you have to spend.
I went with the Powerdyne to keep all systems in tact including A/C and it was pretty much a direct bolt in with everything else I already had. There are arguably better blowers out there....ie any of the gear driven type but none of those save the Powerdyne gear driven are made for the Explorer front accessories I have. You can use Mustang stuff but they extend off the motor further and things like A/C tend to get removed from the truck.
A turbo system would be nice. But I have only seen one. The complexity of piping coupled with the lack of space for it seems to be the limiting factor here. That can be overcome of course with the right amount of $ to throw at it.
Just my .02

That is trashy power for a GT45, you can do that with a T62-1 easily. 450-500hp and you begging to split the stock 5.0 block in half. Girdles don't do a whole lot in keeping the block from breaking, but they will keep the mess in onw place when it does break.

I completly agree with the last post. Bottom line is that doing "internals" on any well running stock 5.0 is almost pointless. The reason being is that the stock rotating assembly will hold enough power to split the stock block. If you have any doubt's than go on turbomustangs.com and look at the stock block chronicles. They have people on the forums who have split the stock block with stock heads. As far as boost goes. My friend has a 95 mustang I helped him build that put's down 480rwhp with a turbonetics 62/1 at 14lbs of boost.....on a stock sn95 hyper-pistoned shortblock.
