Anyone else have this problem or know a fix? It runs great when its ideling, but when you are getting on it under a load it starts to miss. We have done a full tune up, plugs, wires, and cleaned the MAF. That didn't fit so we bought a new MAF. Still runs bad. There are no codes. Any other ideas?

Any codes being thrown or stored? Could be a coil pack I suppose - haven't had to do anything to mine except oil & filters so far.

my 03 Auto had this problem. it was a couple diff things. #1 sparkplug was in pices(blew up) and the fuel pump was going out. Fuel pump went out at 46K miles.

Yeah its my dad's 01'. He has done a full tune up and also replace the coil pack with no results. I was thinking something fuel related, just not sure how you cn diagonse if its an injector or a fuel pump.

How would I check out the fuel pump? Since it really only does it under load, like if you get on it hard a about 3000rmp it misses all the way to about 4000rmp. Maybe at idle if the pump is bad the gauge will drop?

My 01 did that and after a full tune-up and changeing the coil pack it stoped.

The check engine light just came on (was never on before) while he was going up a hill, was missing out at the time the light came on. We checked the code and it said left bank lean. So I am now sure its fuel related. I guess the next step would be to check the fuel pressure.

Checked the fuel pressure last night, read 60psi when the key was on and 70psi when engine was running. So the fuel pump seams to be fine. Vacuum was held at 20hg when idle and 2500rmp. Any ideas?

Old post, we sold the truck last year... but just incase someone searches this post. The problem was a bad spark plug. We had done a tuneup a little while before we started having the missing problems. Apparently one of the Autolite plugs we put in failed. Put in a set of Motorcrafts and no more missing.

Wait, what??? There was no question here... This was merely an update.

Never heard of problems with Autolites, but I've also never used anything but Motorcrafts in Fords. They're good for 100k easy.
