What do you guys and gals think?
Participation is a little down as of late, should we bump the contest up to weekly to try and keep it rolling, leave it at every other week, or drop it down to once a month. Don't want to see it go away,
I'll not bring my feelings on this into it becasue I want your opinions.

Idk id say once a week or every other week. Id git some pics but my truck aint really goin at the time. But once i git it back up ill be back in this snapshot game lol.

I'm waiting for an idea I like to enter.....

ya, the cemtarty one is a little tricky,, all ours around here are fenced off,,

it seems like some of the topic can't be really done by everybody. not the cemetary one in particular (even tho I couldn't do it cuz they are all fenced off) but its going to be hard to get a big following considering it's kinda hard to find a topic that everyone can do. I doubt holding the contest weekly will help at all. its going to be alot of work for you considering there probably won't be more than 2 or 3 entries a week on a given topic. Not everyone has a forrest or nice green areas to take pics in just like not everyone has a beach to take pics at like we do on the west coast.

not to mention not all of us have the time to go to these places to take a pic just for a contest on here. I work 5 days a week and have school 3. so my weekends pretty much consist of running errands and working on projects I didn't ahve time throughout the week I need to work on.

I knew if we went into detail that it would hinder people.


truck with water in the pic. whether a beach, or what not etc would be a good one. one may put a pic of their truck at the beach, while the other may take it while they are washing on it, another in the rain. you could run these as many times as you want and just don't allow someone to use a pic more than once.

could go for a light with your ranger, have the interior light on at night, one could get a street light pic, another could have a lamp in the back of the truck, another a sunset. if we narrow down too much it gets to harrd for everyone to participate.

you actually bring up a good point. If the subject was more vauge you could get a bigger variety of pics and contestants.

i think every two weeks is good, i just dont have the time to take pics of my truck that often. i say make the topics more vague so you can do more.

my only other idea is to open it up to something other than our trucks. i know this is a ranger forum but if you really want to have this contest the topics are going to get old. maybe if it was opened up to anything goes, or any other type of vehical, not just rangers. i mostly take landscape photos, my trucks not very photogenic so if i hapen to find a place while im out shooting i will take a couple shots but i usually dont feel like wasting hours looking for a place to take a pic of my truck.

if i had a camera i would do this. its kindof hard to get the girlfriend to take pictures of my truck in a graveyard

i like the current format, it allows for creativity and the whole point of entering the contest is to win and be able to choose the next subject, more or less a priviledge with the benefit of keeping it different. my only reason for not entering is because i dont have a camera and have to borrow one, but i think the last themes have all been pretty vague with the exception of the cemetary one, which i liked the most, and i plan on entering the next one, and blah blah blah im ranting aimlessly but basically the contest is just another reason to like RPS.

Also, the voting board would be better if it showed a little thumbnail of the pic like the photoshot board so you didnt have to click on all your options.

I like how it is now too. Either stay with the every other week or make it once a month. This will produce better quality pictures and hopefully generate a higher turnout. The rules also just say a Ford vehicle, so we could turn it into a kind of scavenger hunt to find a certain Ford vehicle and not make it our Rangers all the time. Another option, PickupMan92 said before: "we needa do specifics like truck in front of grocery store, ice cream stand, a cow, a really big tree, etc etc...but after about the 20th contest, the specifics will have to come out." This would make it so we would not have the same contests again after a while. It would take more creativity. Or make the categories more vague like you guys are talking about like, Patriotic, Creepy, etc. This will make the turnout higher because it’s easier which is what we need now. Or leave it up to the person that wins. It doesn't matter to me I'm just throwing around ideas. I enjoy doing these and seeing what other people come up with compared to my picture.

I think if we bump the contest to once a week, the initial participation will be down (per contest), but overall it will be up.
Weekly, moves us to a new topic relatively quickly. That way, topics that seem to be more difficult for everyone will be outta the way sooner. I think it never hurts to try for these, but in some cases its just pretty hard to do. I've sat out the last 3 because of class work and picture difficulties, however I've tried to keep voting. I don't want to see the photo contest go away by any means, as I think there are some people here who have some great ideas coming up, that haven't gotten a chance to share them.

I think if somone has the patients to make us polls each week and keep her going lets roll with it.

OK, I think the majority want it to stay every other week, personally I like 2 week rotation as being self employed sometimes leaves me little time, I don't think I could keep up with once a week, also if it takes a day or two for the picker to step up, then thats half a week gone.
Rules do say more then just Ranger but so far it is up to the previous winner to take that as they read it and make the call, As for the topic, some do choose to read deeper into it, the truck with water saw rivers, lakes harbors bridges and rain. Just use your imagination when picking the subject and for the shooters how you interpret the subject.
Some good ideas in this thread, just have to win one to implement them :)

I like the bi-weekly setting, its nice, but weekly wouldn't be bad either. I agree with most everything being said. Have the topics be a little more general. I personally don't have a digicam, so I have to borrow one, and I don't spend too much time around here :mind-blow at least in the Snapshots challenge section. But with contest like this, I would be more willing to get into.
