I was designated driver this evening, and giving my buddy a ride home from the bar. We're heading down the highway, he's completely wasted and acting like an idiot. He's making all these wild gestures then all of the sudden the car dies, battery/alt light comes on. At this point I'm basically saying WTF; it's a brand new truck (07 XL)and there is no way something can be malfunctioning this early on.

We pull over and try to restart the truck a few times, no dice. The interior lights are on and everything seems to work. The car even cranks. NOTHING. At this point I call roadside assistance, and I'm not happy (it's raining btw).

As I'm sitting there on the phone I remember reading that page in the owners manual about the fuel cut-off switch. And I remember from doing some audio/radar wiring where the switch was. I tell my drunk ass buddy to look down and give the switch a flip. Sure enough the truck fires right back up. Wow. I cancel the roadside assistance.

Special thanks to my drunk friend with his ocean-liner class feet, and to Ford for putting a fuel cut-off switch in a location that can actually be accidentally pressed.

Just felt like ranting, bed time!

At least you know yours' work. I got hit almost directly head on and, after launching off the hood of the other vehicle(30 feet of nothing but air), I hit the road and DROVE into the ditch. Throttle was wide open. Had to shut it off with the key!:cussing:

Fuel shutoff switches are a pain, if they aren't going to work properly they shouldn't even be there.

HA, I was in an accident and 2 weeks after I got the truck back I hit a bump in the road and it cut off..... Took it into thr dealership and threw a fit and it was replaced, next accident the new one worked as expected....

Be glad my dad's is in the trunk, think that wasn't a pleasure figuring out????He wasn't even driving, my Mom hit it with groceries!!!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one! Honestly though, I can completely understand the need for the switch, but they really need to find a better location for it...

That's ok, I parked my truck at Movie Gallery to rent some movies come otu side, it didn't work. Ford looked at it, and somehow they said the switch looked like someone smacked it with a hammer. My door was locked, and I drove maybe 5 miles there? They installed a shield for me, just incase someone ritually hits it everytime they get out... O wait that's my wife!...

Bottom right corner of the passenger's side foot well. Can't miss it. Mine has a pic of a gas pump by it. It's a yellow button if I remember correctly.

omg thats kinda funny. i know it sucked the time im sure. and for that i am sorry, but i laughed when i saw this in "new posts" i just had to read it.
yeah i never had an issue with my truck. i did in my focus. when doing work it was hit. or when i wrecked ... i dont remember, all i remember it was in the hatch area. id personally say pretty well protected .. as far as accidental bumping goes.

you mean the kick panel?? i've never had it off although have often wondered y its not as securly placed as the drivers side, ie if u push on it, it will flex and move alot easier.

So the button (red/yellow, whatever it may be on each vehicle) is to re-connect the fuel line? or re-setting it I guess you could say.
Or is that button to cut off the fuel?
If so, how do you reset it?

ROFL!!
I used to ride around with my buddy that had an old 4x4 Ranger farm truck, and Id kick the panel and trip the switch. He'd go off "what the "F" happend to this pile now?!?!" then Id have to re-set it. Funny as hell to do to someone!!!!
