that guy doesn't know what he has!!!! But why replace the 2.9 with a 2.3? That's madness! lol but honestly if that auction was near closing i'd bid on it but it's got 6 days of bidding left on it. The rust is also too great for me though but it will make someone really happy

I wonder if there are places where you can buy the Ranger GT body kits, as in remanufactured. Id like to dress my truck up with them.

I don't really think a Ranger GT is anything special, just rare.

if the price stays low enough you can buy that truck and pull the body kit off it. Might as well junk the truck after seeing all the rust at the body kit line.

I was just about to post a thread about this.
ALL GTs have STX interior, which is one level above XLT. All XLT Rangers came equipped with cargo lights, correct? Why doesnt this have one? Also, notice the interior. Its just like that of a 'base' or 'S' model Ranger. Look closely and you can see a shody job someone did of laying some kind of shag carpet. Like...they just cut it around the seat. It kind of looks like vinyl mat underneath.
Also, look what carfax brought up for the VIN.
1FTCR10A9KUA41644
Year/Make/Model: 1989 FORD RANGER
Body Style: PICKUP
Engine Type: 2.3L L4 FI OHV [ALL GTs came with 2.9 v6]
Manufactured In: UNITED STATES

I say a GT body kit was added by someone LONG ago, since rust has had time to form underneath. Too many things dont add up, that would otherwise make it a GT. Also, you cant argue with the VIN results.
Now someones little 'upgrades' over the years could have resulted in this 'hybrid'...meaning VIN swap, body kit add-on, ect...

Id still buy it for the body kit if I were closer. Make no mistake, that IS a GT body kit.
Oh, and that notch for the tailpipe.... :ugone2far

Nice catch poop...I did notice the plain interior and questioned the truth behind it, but I never went as far as checking the vin. It would be worth it for the body kit alone, except for the piece that was cut for the tailpipe. Makes you wonder what happen to the truck the kit came off of...

I missed this post.
The rust behind the ground effects is almost always bad...when I removed mine off of WY-T(rash)the rust below was unreal...above the GFX line there was no rust.I can't believe he cut into the GFX,someone must not realize how rare the GFX are.(BTW...I have a set for a long bed 88 for sale.Missing two plastic mounting strips on the bed, everything else is there.$500 pretty firm)
here's a crappy pic of WY-T(rash) for those who didn't know her

Its funny running across this post.

But im the one who ended up buying that truck.

From what ive gathered after getting a better look at the truck, and driving it for the past week. Its obviously not a GT, but has some parts off a GT. Mainly the body kit, and the rearend. I believe someone had a ranger gt they bought for parts and swapped some of them into this.

The truck Runs great. And actually looks alot better in person than the picture make it out to be. even tho i am afraid to see what is under the kit, im happy with what i got for the price. The interrior is actually in great shape besides the carpet someone decided to lay on the floor. Im in the process of removing it and getting a pair of buckets for the truck. Also the Frame is Solid.. No rust holes anywhere to be seen. There are spots of undercoating still intact in quite a few spots on the frame so atleast its a good platform for what i have planned.

I have plans to drive it for about 6 months or so. And Swap in a 2.3l Turbo motor in it with a few mild performance goodies to start with.

I wish I could find one of those body kits for an ext. cab. If I could, I'd probably get one for mine if i could afford it. It appears that the ext. cab GT's are extremely rare. Ive only seen 2 or 3 ext. cab GT's.

Adam I have NEVER seen a real x-cab GT. I don't think they made them. I have read of an aftermarket company that would make the x-cab panel and you could just get a short bed GT kit and put it onto a regular x-cab ranger. But I have never seen it in person or pictures. I have also seen many many body kits on x-cab rangers, but never a GT kit on an x-cab.

Hmm, its very very possible I could be wrong then, but I had thought I'd seen a couple of ext. cab GT's.
