View Full Version : Can Just A-arms lower my '98 2 inches?
KillerB21 Jan 10 2007, 01:06pm I want the smoothest ride possible with a 2/3 drop.
I"ve got 2" belltech springs on now, because I thought they were the best but the front rides rough and sits ON the bumpstops.
Any suggestions?
Raminman Jan 10 2007, 01:14pm I didn't know belltech made 2'' drop springs.. just 3.. I think you have 3'' dude, bc i got em too, and im 1/3 inch from the bump stops up front, also did you get after market bump stops? i.e. pancakes? they make a world of diff. i was sitting on my stock ones with the springs.
EDIT: What kind of shocks do you have? and have you trimmed the rear bump stops? or replaced them?
complexdesigns Jan 10 2007, 01:15pm Just cut the bumpstops in half, mine never rode bad but every time you change a component it is going to ride stiffer.

I dont think you can cut front ones in half, they are metal when you go a little over half way into them.
EDIT: I have one right in front of my computer right now, a front bumpstop, and even cut half way its not as short as my poly. pancake.
KillerB21 Jan 10 2007, 03:13pm I cut 1/3 off top of front bump stops,
and Yes they are still the Stock Stops.
I'm looking for some clearance for travel and a smooth lowered ride.
If someone thinks I should used 2"dropped a-arms from djm I will
not really worried about the price.
complexdesigns Jan 10 2007, 03:29pm I took my bump stops off. The arms will lower you another two inches but it will ride great, at least mine did.
PickupMan92 Jan 10 2007, 03:39pm they are complete rubber, not metal, I cut about 2/3 of mine

Theres metal under the rubber, which im sure is connected to the bolt that holds them in, is what i meant. Its about 2/3, 3/4 the way down.
Mightygreenrang Jan 10 2007, 05:27pm Take theam all the way off and you won't have such a ruff ride. To answer your question though, yes DJM arms will only lower it 2" if you put the factory coils back in, with after market the truck will go down another 2".

+1 Just putting this out there though, if you have the belltech coils and put them in, it will go down another 3, with the djm springs it will go down another 2.
slammedxonair Jan 10 2007, 06:10pm yea if u have factory shocks and springs and djm arms it should ride like stock. also i sell djm arms
00RangerBullitt Jan 10 2007, 07:49pm I've got a 2/3 drop, and I just cut the stock front bumpstops in half, and i've only hit the bumpstops once and that was going over a speed bump....the front bounced up and then came down and hit them. Btw, I put the DJM pancake bumpstops on the rear and noticed that they are no taller than the lip on the frame rail, so its not going to do a bit of good.......the axle will just bottom out on the frame rail.

Actually it will only go down another 2 from where he is.

Your saying with DJM Control arms, If you put in BELLTECH (3'')Coils, you'll get a total of 4'' drop??? no, i dont think so, with the DJM 2'' coils, it will go down 2'' but he already has 3'' coils..so if he got arms he'd get 5'' drop total.
EDIT: This is just a misunderstanding, were saying the same thing.
KillerB21 Jan 25 2007, 02:09pm I'm looking to maintain my ride hight at or near a 2/3 drop and increase travel therefore smoothing out the ride.
I want to replace my Front lowered springs with lowered a-arms to keep the same hight but make the ride softer.
Has any one done this?????

Yes you just need to put the factory springs back in.
KillerB21 Jan 26 2007, 01:32pm Where's the best place to find some A-arms?
Raminman Jan 26 2007, 01:46pm Summit has good deals on DJM control arms.
EDIT: Remember, you'll need the top and bottom ones.
