View Full Version : weight limit on bagged rear?
450rwhp Jan 14 2007, 03:07pm :violen: i have searched for almost a week now. i have a 92 that i would like to bag. here is the deal, i have an 85 mustang project that i am working on also. the problem is that i would like to know what the weight capacity is. i plan on trailering the car to shows when it is finished. has anyone done some serious searching for an answer but i have came up with nothing. i also wanted to know if anyone has bagged a front with djm beams and has a picture. i want to do the beams with bags but i can't seem to find anyone who has done that either with pics.any suggestions?
BlauSplash Jan 14 2007, 03:21pm So...... Your planning on pulling a car trailer, with a Muffstain on it with your Ranger? If so I would not bag it. It will already have enough problems pulling that weight much less having to worry about holding the trailer up on bags.
bdpaco Jan 14 2007, 03:24pm DJM beams and Chassis tech beams are what most people use when they bag the I-beam Rangers...if you are going to run large diameter wheels and want to lay out then go witht the Chassis tech beams, they can be notched the DJM ones cant..as far as trailering..I have seen plenty of bagged tow pigs..the only limit will be the bags capacity..but yea unless you are doing an engine swap...what Blausplash said
slammedxonair Jan 14 2007, 03:25pm i would be more concerned about the motor rather than the suspension just run 2600 lb bags on the axel or even a 2800lb bag there plenty of people that tow boats and car trailers with bagged rides. thats why im saying it would just be more on your motor.
LWRTHNU Jan 14 2007, 03:29pm Yeah towin may cause issues but the weight issue all depends on how you bag it. I have carried nearly 500-600 lbs in the bed of my truck while bagged. Thats with 2600 bag over axle setup. Towing still would depend on what your truck is already capable of towing.
slammedxonair Jan 14 2007, 03:30pm the majority of bagged rangers i would say have djm beams i have chassis tech on my explorer because they are the only company that makes them. its just more work than than you need on a ranger. i had to notch my frame for the beams just to lay 18s with the chassis tech beams.
450rwhp Jan 14 2007, 03:31pm i don't have any problems pulling cars now. i have around 30 or so pulls on it now. i has the stock 2.3 in it now but i will have a 2.3t by the time spring hits. i know then i will have plenty of resreve power. right now it makes for longer hauls ya know. but i see quite a few semi trucks that have just two firestone bags on the drive axles on the tractors. i know those are a lot bigger then what is offered for our size trucks but that is where is started pondering the idea to begine with. just been pondering the what if's, bag blows, get aleak in one of the bags while im at a show who knows how many miles away ya know.
as for the chassis tech....chassis tech dot com?

slammedxonair Jan 14 2007, 03:42pm do not buy anything from aim/chassis tech they have the worst customer service in the industry. a couple of there products are, ok. but most is all junk dont buy any air ride parts from them. you will regret it lol just ask ross soeffinblack hes on here

LoLifeRanger Jan 14 2007, 06:07pm more than your truck can carry. i believe they are 2600lb bags. go to firestone's website. also, look into slams cuz they really take the cake.
