Today was my first sub-freezing morning with my 2007 Ranger (it was under 20 degrees), and it took a LONG time to crank it over for the first time. It was so long that it seemed like the fuel wasn't even flowing. The alternator/battery/starter were completely fine and started right up (brand new truck!) but man did it take a while for the fuel to get there.
Anyone else's Ranger do the same? For the remainder of the day the truck had no problems turning over. I figured I'd get feedback from other owners before bothering the dealer...
Thanks all,
-Sean

The weird thing is that the starter motor fired up very fast, and not slowly and laboriously like it does with a weak battery. It really just felt like the fuel was taking its sweet time getting to the injectors...

I had no problems on my 06 2.3L. The power steering pump didn't like it was about it. It actually starts up quicker when it's cold than normal operating temp.
the only things that dont like me, are the clutch pedal, and the power steering on my 98. it does take longer for it to start in the winter though

As soon as you turn the key it pretty much has fuel pressure......

I like to keep my truck in 4th also because keeps the rpms at like 2,200 and helps it warm up.

Turn the key on and wait 15 seconds for the fuel pump to prime the system.
It does help when below zero. Also run fuel line antifreeze.

this was the first time ive really ever had to deal with freeezing seeing as how i live in houston texas it took a little longer i did notice(with a brand new battery and altenater) with the heater running and the lights on my dashlights seemed to dim a little in and out

I'm also in MA, and it's REAL cold today, (10 degrees). Started right up this a.m. with a turn of the key. I wonder if your fuel pump is loosing pressure? If that continues I'd take it back to the dealer. They can run a fuel pressure check.
