I have a 06 XL 2wd. It's mostly a work/dd truck but I really don't haul alot of heavy loads with it. I've thought about raising it with big tires but that kills mileage and I love the 2.3L mpg. I don't do alot of off-roading, actually none. I'm going to keep the stock 15" conti's until they wear out then replace them with something similiar. If I flip the shackles and use some 2" drop coils what would it do to my carrying capacity? I don't want to worry about dragging it everyday situations also.
Should I leave it alone or do the drop? The truck almost feels ockward on it's height. It's higher than some of the past 4x4 ranger's.

a 2 inch drop would not change load capacity at all. However if its a work truck, i would leave it be.

what do you haul, I've lowered my truck 2/3 and have hauled 2 yards of mulch on a 6x10 trailer... it was sagging a little, but nothing too crazy, of course I didn't go but about 10 miles with it too.

you could always put air shocks on it as well...air them up when you have a load, and let some out when you don't.

Mostly junk. I have trailers if I need to use them. I can't remember what the ranger's able to handle but probably no more than 800 pounds at max 500 normal if I haul anything. Normally it's empty. It's my daily driver but I use it around the farm etc. I like the shock idea cheaper although the air bag would be better though. I'm still thinking about it. I like the stock height of Rangers with the older suspension, 94ish?, seems normal. The 06's or earlier models set about 2 inches higher than the 94ish model. Seems freakish how tall it is with the 15's.

it shouldn't change your load capacity at all...if you want that extra 2 inches lower, i'd say go for it.

WERD drop it! Flipping the shackles won't really change the load capacity too much at all. Plus, it pretty cheap and easy way to get about 3" lower..
