ok so i want to convert my drums to disc with the kit from underdog. now underdog doesnt explain much so maybe he can chime in, but anyone know what years it fits and how well it works? anyone have it. i mainly want to do this for more stopping power while towing, and i like my 8.8 axle cuz i have the gears i want in it. also i cant find an explorer axle. o and i bought my truck new so i only have 25,xxx on the axle and i like to know where its been. those are my reasons for not going to an explorer axle

yes I have this kit on my 02 4X4. I bought mine direct from SSBC. It is easy to do, but you do have to take the axles out. Buy new axle seals why your at it. My kit came with good directions. You may have to do alot of bleeding. Air may get cought up in the calipers. Figure a full day of taking your time and don't forget the Diff. oil :) hope this helps

redranger04G.... I wouldn't say there is a huge difference like your going through the windshield when you hit the brakes :) I think the number is 30% better If I am not mistaken. I put this kit on for mostly maintance reasons because I had to keep replacing the drum hardware every year because of rust issues, plus the shoes kept sticking to the drums when sitting for a few days and sheering off. (Heated garage + salty roads = rust). I upgraded to slotted/ extra plated rotors and aluminum calipers on the rear and slotted rotors and EBC pads up front...Remember I have a new frame because I could not stop, now much better :)
BLUEMAN: say hello to the SSBC boys (& girls) for me, thanx!
